CURRICULUM VITAE Emanuele Centurioni First name / Surname Address Via Spina 27, I-40139, Bologna (BO), Italy Mobile: +39 3298485992 E-mail e.centurioni@yahoo.it Nationality Italian Date of birth 18/11/69 Gender Male PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE Emanuele Centurioni was born in Florence, Italy, in 1969. He received the B.Sc. in Physics (Laurea degree) from University of Bologna in 1995,and the Ph.D. degree from the same University in 2000. In 2000-2007 he worked as post-doc at CNR-IMM Bologna, Italy. His early main research fields were on solar cells (amorphous silicon / crystalline silicon heterojunction solar cells, amorphous and microcrystalline silicon thin film solar cells, optoelectronic device computer modeling) and thin films (amorphous and nano-crystalline silicon thin films deposited by PECVD technique, transparent Conducting Oxides films for optoelectronic applications). He is the author of Optical (http://www.bo.imm.cnr.it/~centurio/optical.html), a software based on a matrix oriented model that he developed. Optical is used by the scientific community to model mixed coherent/incoherent optical multilayer systems. Example of applications are: optical coating design, modeling of solar cells, thin film thickness determination, design of interferometric infrared absorber/emitter, analysis of various spectroscopical techniques etc. He designed and setup several experimental apparatus present at CNR-IMM Bologna (PECVD, Sputtering, CVD, LPCVD, mass flow calibration system, radio frequency matching networks, field emission measurement system, high temperature induction furnaces). In 2001-2002 he was visiting scientist for 5 months at MVSystems, Inc. Denver, Colorado, USA, where he worked on pin microcrystalline solar cells deposited by Pulsed PECVD. He worked on amorphous silicon solar cells on ceramic substrates for BIPV applications, in collaboration with the Ceramic Center of Bologna. He developed a prototype of photovoltaic tile with an initial efficiency of 5%, being one of the inventor in the relative patent. In 2006 he was one of the founder of RaySolar www.raysolar.com, a company working on the development of a low-cost silicon refining process for solar cell applications. He developed Raysolar technology for low cost metallurgical silicon refining up to solar grade silicon, being one of the inventor in the relative patent. In 2010 he started working as scientific consultant. 1
