PLAYING SHAKESPEARE WITH DEUTSCHE BANK
Act III, Scene 3 The republic of Venice employs Othello, a self-made man and a Moor, to defend its overseas territories against the Turks. But for all his military success, Othello remains an outsider in Venetian society, an object of racism, envy and mistrust... Designed to support the teaching of English in the National Curriculum, Globe Education s acclaimed Playing Shakespeare with Deutsche Bank productions are created especially for young people. Othello will be a thrilling 100-minute full-scale performance of Shakespeare s play in Shakespeare s playhouse. With complex characters and exploring themes of ambition, trust, prejudice, betrayal and jealousy this is a show that is certain to inspire debate in the classroom (and on the journey home) and leave students and adults alike buzzing with the thrill of live theatre. This production of Othello is supported by Deutsche Bank as part of Born to Be, its youth engagement programme which is committed to helping young people to reach their potential. Now in its ninth year this partnership enriches students learning and enjoyment of Shakespeare by providing them with an opportunity to see a production at Shakespeare s Globe.
