Release Notes General Topics Supported Operating Systems Sage Timberline Estimating supports the following operating systems and service packs. The listed service packs are the minimum required levels for installing Sage Timberline Estimating 11.1. Release Notes 11.1 SQL Server Database Sage Timberline Estimating now uses a Microsoft SQL Server -based database platform. If you used a previous version of Sage Timberline Estimating (such as Sage Timberline Office Estimating 9.7), you must migrate your data before you can access it in Sage Timberline Estimating 11.1. Refer to the Installation Guide on the Sage Timberline Estimating setup and installation DVD for migration instructions. Sage Timberline Estimating Product Changes The following Sage Timberline Estimating products and features are not supported for this release: Buyout Crystal Reports Cut & Fill Database Editor (DBE) Digitizer Estimating Explorer MAS 90/200 Metricon Model Estimating Multi-currency support On-Screen Takeoff Pricer Report Manager Scheduling Integrator Note: Additional Sage Timberline Estimating products not listed here may not appear in the first release but may be included in future releases. - 2 -
Release Notes General Topics Third-Party Compatibility Sage has tested and verified the following third-party applications with Sage Timberline Estimating. If you upgrade to a newer version of any of these applications after the Sage Timberline Estimating 11.1 release and discover compatibility issues, we recommend that you contact that third-party's customer support. We are glad to assist you with the installation of applications which we provide on the Sage Timberline Estimating DVD, but we do not provide application support for third-party software. Third-Party Integration with Sage Timberline Estimating If you use third-party products that integrate with Sage Timberline Estimating that are not listed in the previous section, contact your software vendor before upgrading to find out which versions of these products are compatible with Sage Timberline Estimating..NET 4.0 Sage Timberline Estimating installs Microsoft.NET 4.0 as a prerequisite. If you do not already have this installed,.net 4.0 will restart your server and workstations after the prerequisites are installed. - 3 -
Release Notes 11.1 Windows Installer 4.5 Sage Timberline Estimating installs Windows Installer 4.5 before the prerequisites. If you do not already have this installed, Windows Installer 4.5 will restart your server and workstations after installation. Elevate Permissions When Installing on Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 2008 Server You must elevate your permissions when installing Sage Timberline Estimating on Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 2008 Server. During certain installation tasks, you will receive another prompt to elevate your privileges. If you do not acknowledge each prompt within two minutes, the installation process may quit the task. If this occurs, you will receive a separate prompt asking you to retry the task. To retry the task, click [Retry] and then elevate your privileges at the prompt. New Features New Layout and Appearance The Sage Timberline Estimating software has a new look. A new "ribbon" menu layout replaces the old menu layout. The "classic view" menu layout is still supported for Windows XP and Windows Server 2003. If you are using the new ribbon layout, you can revert to the classic view if desired using the preference options in the Estimating Management Console. New web-based online Help replaces the previous online Help file system. With this new web-based system, you can add selected topics to your Favorites web page for quick reference. Undo Feature Sage Timberline Estimating now gives you the ability to reverse or "undo" changes made to your estimate spreadsheet. - 4 -
Release Notes General Topics Address Book You can now manage your contacts with the new Address Book feature in the Estimating Management Console. This feature stores your contact information in a SQL Server database. The new Address Book in the Estimating Management Console replaces Sage Timberline Office Address Book. If you have contact information in Address Book, you can migrate or transfer your contact information to the Estimating Management Console. For more information, refer to the Installation Guide. Estimating Management Console The new Estimating Management Console is now available in this release. This utility allows you to view and manage your databases and Estimates, including your Address Book databases. You can also manage your Sage Timberline Estimating preferences and estimate preferences using this utility. Estimating Tools Functionality The Estimating Tools functions have been incorporated into the Sage Timberline Estimating software and the Estimating Management Console. Updated Information These documents are current at the time of the release. To review additional support documentation, log on to the Sage Customer Portal at https://customers.sagenorthamerica.com/irj/portal/anonymous/login and then select Self Service > My Products. Release Notes Further Assistance Online Help Sage Timberline Estimating includes Help, which provides many answers and instructions at the click of your mouse. To use Help, select Help Topics from the Help menu. An important feature of the Help system is What's This? Help. For detailed information about each field in Sage Timberline Estimating, press F1 or click the question mark that appears on the toolbar or in the title bar of each window. Position the question mark over an area and click again to display the Help topic for the area. Use the Help Feedback System to provide comments and suggestions for improving any given Help topic. Select Yes or No and type your comments in the box at the bottom of a Help topic then click [Submit] to send us your feedback. Sage Customer Portal Get instant access to software services and 24/7 support. Simply log on and get information about software updates and network patches, or view, update, and submit online support incidents. The first time you visit the site you will complete a registration process. To complete the registration process, each individual authorized by your company needs: A unique e-mail address. Release Notes 11.1 Technical Support Knowledgebase Access the Technical Support Knowledgebase 24 hours a day, seven days a week for solutions and answers to over 4,800 topics as well as software alerts, notices, release guides, and year-end information. This is the same online tool our support staff uses when responding to calls from service plan customers. User Forums Exchange information with other Sage Timberline Estimating users. Support Incidents Review your support-call activity, update open incidents, submit a new incident, or add a note to an existing incident. Our Customer Support department is available to respond to online inquiries between 6 a.m. and 5 p.m. (Pacific Time) Monday through Friday. Training Information Learn about Anytime Learning and Realtime Learning sessions that are available, view schedules of online sessions, or look for classroom training near you. You can access Sage University from the Sage Customer Portal or by visiting Sage University on the web at www.sagesoftwareuniversity.com. Customer Information Update your individual contact information whenever it is convenient, view applications owned and the number of uses of each application, access activation codes, request additional uses of applications, view service plan information, request to renew your service plan, and get authorized business partner or certified consultant information. - 7 -

Online Support Request: Submit an online support ticket when you have a nonurgent question. One of our call center support analysts will assist you.
