John Dobrenov, Masters Project Manager Masters Retail Complex, Tingalpa QLD The brief The client brief was to construct an 11,370m2 bulky goods retail facility for Masters Home Improvement on a high profile 25,000m2 site with unsuitable ground conditions, 5 metre retaining at one end and incorporating significant public road works. A key client objective was to create a structure that would have a strong presence and branding impact for Masters to capitalise on strong growth in Brisbane s bay side catchment area. The outcomes This Masters retail centre sits confidently on its site as a beacon for future projects of this type. Completed in just 36 weeks in spite of one month s worth of rain delays and significant client variations and amendments, the project was completed on time and on budget. It is an excellent example of Spaceframe s capacity to deliver a high profile project with a superior quality finish within exceptional timeframes, notwithstanding the challenging site conditions. Spaceframe s proposals saved the client significantly on the competitive hard tender. This was achieved through smart solutions primarily in the concrete, retaining, structural steel, tilt panel and electrical services elements of the project. Flattest Floor in the World Award The solution Situated strategically in a prime position, the building employs full height tilt panel, braced box construction with high gloss level polished concrete floors for the fully air conditioned internal retail space with Alpolic and Alucabond panels to accentuate the external tilt panel surfaces and entry areas.
