3 Introduction This report explores two construction occupations in Orange County, Los Angeles County, and San Bernardino County, California. The 2008-2018 growth projections for both occupations in the aforementioned three counties are compared. The construction occupations are (1) electricians and (2) plumbers, pipefitters, and steamfitters. The reports is aimed at assisting Irvine Valley College administration in decision-making regarding future educational and training programs that would be appropriate and timely considering industry composition and employment projections. This report contains information that was compiled from the InfoUSA employer listings. Occupational projections data was provided by Economic Modeling Specialists Inc. (EMSI). All data comes from secondary sources. No primary research (interviews or surveys) was conducted nor was any industry validation performed to compile the data herein. About the Centers of Excellence The Centers of Excellence (COE) are part of the Business and Workforce Performance Improvement (BWPI) initiative within the California Community College s Economic and Workforce Development Network. The regional COEs are focused on building the capacity of the community colleges in the area of economic and workforce development to enhance their ability to deliver education and training services to businesses and workers in high growth industries, new technologies, and other clusters of opportunities. Centers provide market intelligence regarding workforce trends, increasing awareness and visibility about the colleges economic and workforce development programs and services, and strategically develop partnerships with business and industry. 4 Report Scope This Occupational Profile Report provides occupational projections and percentage change of employment between 2008-2018 for electricians and plumbers, pipefitters, and steamfitters. This report includes data for Orange County, Los Angeles County, and San Bernardino County.

5 Occupational Information This section reviews the occupational growth of electricians (SOC 47-2111) and plumbers, pipefitters, and steamfitters (47-2152). Electricians Between 2008-2018, Orange County can expect a 10% change in increase; Los Angeles County a 0% change in increase; and San Bernardino a 2% change in increase for electrician jobs. Combined, the growth in these three regions equates to 788 new jobs over the 10-year period. 6 Plumbers, Pipefitters, and Steamfitters Between 2008-2018, Orange County can expect a 14% change in increase; Los Angeles County a 10% change in increase; and San Bernardino County a 6% change in increase in jobs for plumbers, pipefitters, and steamfitters. Combined, the growth in these three regions equates to 2,146 new jobs over the 10-year period.
