Vrnik - Croatia 2011
Vrnik...small enough to walk around in half an hour and with only 3 allyear-around-inhabitants, is placed very close to a much larger island of Korcula (with the town with the same name) in the southern part of the magnificent Croatian archipelago, roughly equidistant to well known ancient towns Split and Dubrovnik. Here you can find a tiny, medieval castle/fortress rebuilt to harbour up to 10 residents for a unique vacation experience, equally suitable for a larger family, a group of merry friends or a newly wed couple. You can take a swim or dive in the crystal clear sea just in front of the property, compose and cook some great meals in the large stone oven in the garden or explore the surroundings by boat. There are as many as 22 small, uninhabited islands around Vrnik. Why not visit some neighbouring wine makers or diving clubs. The towns Lumbarda, Korcula and Orebic are all easily reached in 10-20 minutes and in there you can enjoy the pleasures of night life if you for some reason would get tired of the Robinson lifestyle.
You can feel the scent of herbs and salt sea in the warm evening breeze
Vrnik is an idyllic holliday resort surrounded by the crystal clear waters of the Mediterranean Sea For further information mail to vladimir@beck.net

The 2 nd floor has got a bedroom with a king size/double bed and a small balcony. The guest house Here you will find a level bed (2+1) and a separate shower and toilet. Totally there are 10 beds on the property. Outdoors there is plenty of space, about 1000 m2. There are tables and benches, a grill and a stone stove and a boule court. CLIMATE The overall climate is pleasant from April to October. If you want to experience heat and city pulse then you should choose July-August. This is the most intense tourist season. The other months therefore offer a slightly lower pace but a wonderful environment for relaxation. In October, for example the average temperature is about 20 degrees Celsius both in the air and in the sea. Why not try to cut some stone? The stone from Vrnik is not any kind of stone but has been used in the constructions of Dubrovnik, Venice and Hagia Sofia in Istanbul. In addition to these activities, there are opportunities to fish, dive (there are diving schools around), water ski, visit museums and watch the famous sword dance. In Korcula (city) you can rent windsurfing equipment, kayaks, fast RIB boats, cars, scooters and bicycles. Swimming Directly below the house is a fine little beach (small stones). In Lumbarda, five minutes by boat, there are several long shallow sandy beaches. There are also a number of small islands in the vicinity which offer excellent spots for sunbathing and swimming. Excursions Visit the local winemakers and explore the diversity of exquisite wines cultivated throughout the island of Korcula. Local tour operators will arrange tours, with departures from Korcula and Lumbarda to the island of Mljet, Dubrovnik and Hvar. Activities When you are tired of just hanging around and enjoying the sun, the crystal clear sea and the beauti-ful surroundings there are many other things to do. You can for example play boule in the lower part of the garden. There are opportunities to create the most amazing meals you can imagine. Enjoy the sun ripe vegetables, freshly caught fish or shellfish, variety of cheeses, herbs, olive oil and wine. Bake pizza in the stone oven and roast a lamb on the open grill. Compose and eat in the shade of the surrounding cypresses. If you would rather have someone else to cook for you there is a small cozy restaurant on the island very close to the Castle (on less than a 2 minutes walking distance).
