Clickfree frequently asked questions Q: What is Cloud Storage? A: Cloud Storage is a term used for storing data remotely via the Internet. Cloud companies such as Elephant Drive provide this service. Q: What are the Android Apps? A: Android is the name of an operating system, owned by Google, for mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets. Apps (short for applications) are software that can be downloaded to your mobile device off Google Play to perform games, useful tools, and, of course, backup your files from Clickfree. The Clickfree App is only available through Google Play Market. Q: Will the App back up other apps and software? Q: Does this copy all the files on your hard drive every time it is used? A: It copies all of your files the first time it is used, then backs up only new or changed files and app after that. Q: How do I get my files back out of the hard drive? A: You can go into the options and choose Restore. It will restore from wherever you last stored your file, such as locally on the hard drive, from an SD card or from a remote cloud service. Q: How do I differentiate among shared files? A: If you know the shared files and you do not want them backed up, then you can choose to not backup these files in the options menu. Otherwise, all files are backed-up as a default position out of the box. Q: Can I back up password protected files and have them remain that way? Q: Will I be able to tell which computer the files came from? A: Yes, via the drop down menu that lists backed up computers. Q: Is this mac compatible? Q: Can I transfer between a PC and a Mac A: Yes, files only. Q: Will this work with Windows 95, 98 or ME?

Q: Will it work with Windows 7? Q: Will it work with 64-bit versions of Windows Vista & Windows 7? Q: Can you back up two computers with different operating systems on the same Clickfree? Q: Can I put both formats (MAC & PC) on the same Clickfree at same time? Q: Can a backed-up computer be removed? A: Yes, via options, choose computer to delete. Q: Where does the info on the Clickfree go when I download the files to a new computer? A: Most files will go back to original location but some may be grouped in a restored file. The file will appear on your desktop and from there you can reassign to desired location. Q: Will it transfer a virus? A: Highly unlikely as this is backing up files only. Viruses usually attack operating systems and programs. Q: If you have a virus quarantined, will it transfer? A: No Q: Will this backup Emails? Q: Can I skip over files that I do not want backed up? Q: Can it tell what files are in each folder? Q: Can user select which files to back up? Q: Can I transfer files from another external hard drive as a backup to a backup?

A: Yes, if you have your other external hard drive attached to the computer, the Clickfree will back it up. Q: If you are using for a business and you have personnel files, can everyone see them? A: It has password protect for security. Q: Is this a mechanical hard drive? Q: If you download two different computers will the files merge? The computers are backed up separately and identified as such in the drop down menu. Q: If there is a flash drive connected to the computer, can the Clickfree back it up? Q: If program crashes, can you just re-install one program or do you have to reinstall everything? A: The software is one program. If you have issues it may be resolved by updating the software over the internet via the device. Q: If I use for payroll, will this automatically update? It backs up anything that has been changed or added from the last time backed up. Q: Can this be used like an ipod? A: While attached to the computer, you can play your backed up music from the device using Windows Media Center. Q: Is there any way to use this on an older computer that doesn't have a USB connection? Q: Is it safe to delete the files you backup off of your computer? A: We don't recommend deleting files from the computer once backed up. Simply, this means you only have one copy left and that is not considered backed up. Q: Can it be used for smartphones to back up files? A: The Clickfree Android app that comes as a bonus with this item will backup everything on the smartphone to your choice of local (device memory), SD card or to cloud provider. Q: Does it backup everything that came installed on my computer? A: No, just files and favorite web site settings.

Q: Can it be used for just backing up 1 or 2 files? Q: Can you backup a computer on a network? Q: Will you be able to restore files backed up from a Vista computer to a Windows 7 computer? Q: Will this work with the slower USB 1.1 connection? Q: How often do you recommend backing up your computer? A: You should schedule at least once per week or as often as you deem necessary. Q: How does this differ from using a large capacity Flash Drive? A: Flash devices are usually used to store and transfer file. Clickfree has backup software embedded in the hard drive allowing for automated backup. Q: Will this be compatible with the latest version of Internet Explorer? Q: Will this backup Outlook files? Q: Will this backup Excel and Word files? Q: Will this backup Print Artist and Print Master files? Q: Will this backup an itunes library? Q: Will this back up Quicken files? Q: If I restore my computer, will it delete my backup content on the Clickfree? The Clickfree device will never automatically delete files. You must go into the options to delete.

Q: If I buy a new PC and previously used a Mac, can I move files from Mac to Windows using the Clickfree? Q: If my computer is powered off and I turn the computer back on, will it start to automatically backup information? A: Yes, if it's scheduled. Otherwise you need to unplug and plug back in to perform backup. Q: What is the smallest increment of time I can set up for the Clickfree to backup files? A: One minute. Q: How many PCs or Macs can I backup using the Clickfree? A: As many as the capacity can hold. Q: When I connect the Clickfree to my PC with Windows Vista or Windows 7, I get a question about wanting to recognize the device. What should I do? A: Accept by checking the box. This is a one-time-only requirement, the device will be recognized thereafter. Q: Can the firmware be updated? If so, how? A: Yes, by going into options > tools > update. Q: Can you back up another external hard drive to the Clickfree? A: Any external hard drives file content will be backed up as long as it's attached to the computer. Q: Does it back up deleted files? Q: Can you transfer files from the Clickfree to a flash drive?
