The GlassCraft Tradition Founded in 1977 as a small retail store in the northern part of Houston, Texas, GlassCraft Door Company has focused on quality and value for 30 years. From this small beginning, our company has grown into a nationally-recognized leader as a manufacturer of decorative doors and entryways. We ve done this by focusing upon design and quality, and combining the best of overseas production with American-made assembly, custom production, versatility, and customer focus. From our 180,000 square foot manufacturing facility in west Houston, our 220 crafts people, designers, and artisans focus on creating beautiful doors and entryways for our customers. GlassCraft is unique in offering custom designed decorative glass and door products as well as offering a large selection of standard products that are all assembled, designed, and produced here at our facility. Custom Doors If you can imagine it, GlassCraft can create it! You can rely upon the design staff and craftsmen at GlassCraft Door Company to make your dream door become a beautiful reality. The extensive custom design capabilities at GlassCraft include a beveled and stained glass custom workshop and a complete custom wood millwork facility. With your input and direction, our designers will create a striking statement of elegance and beauty for your custom door or entryway. Custom doors may be produced in large sizes up to 48 wide by 120 tall. Overall complete entry size is limited only by your imagination. Doors are with wood and or glass panels. GlassCraft does not use veneers in any of its millwork products. Our Mahogany wood offers an open pore grain, and our knotty alder offers a beautiful closed pore and grain. Both woods finish beautifully. Please note that Knotty Alder and Mahogany, like all hardwood species, vary in color, graining, and appearance. This variance is one of the features of a real-wood door! Design Specifications and Construction Our standard doors are 1 3 /4 or 2 1 /4 thick (depending upon the door height and width), and are constructed using engineered stiles and rails to inhibit warping. These stiles and rails have a 5 mm thick (nominal) laminate face, and the stave cores are solid wood. Alder door panels are 1 1 /4 thick, and are constructed using a 3-piece assembly which incorporates a cross-grained spline in the core to eliminate panel splitting. Mahogany door panels are 1 3 /4 thick and use finger-jointed assembly. Doors are assembled using an authentic doweled cove-and-bead technique. Our exclusive, environmentally-friendly finishing system applies beautiful wood stains in six colors and adds the final protective layers with crystal clear urethane top finish coats. This produces a finish to complement the inherent beauty of the mahogany and knotty alder wood species. Please note that the photos below offer an indication of the final appearance, but due to natural variations in the texture, grain, and color of wood, the actual results will vary. This 8-step finish process combines multiple coats of stain and clear top coats with ultraviolet inhibitors to preserve the beautiful appearance of your door. The natural beauty of mahogany or alder shines through with this timeless wood finish. Distressed Finish provides that special, antique-look appearance to any door. Available in any of the six colors shown above, this distressed finish adds the character of a favorite antique. Door Options V-groove option Many of the doors in this catalog include v grooves on the surface of the door, which gives a plank appearance to the door. The door in the photo at right includes this v-groove option on the two door panels. This popular detail adds a more rustic appearance to the door. The quantity of v-grooves varies with the width of the specific door. All of the Plank doors in this catalog include this option. Usually, these v-grooves are applied to both sides of the door. Speakeasies, Straps, and Clavos Options Clavos Options Many doors in this catalog may be ordered with a variety of decorative clavos or door nails installed onto the face of the door. We can mount clavos on the interior or exterior or both sides, and they may be used with or without the v-groove or speakeasy options. Choose from any of the clavos options listed on the next page, which are shown at approximately actual size. Clavos are applied by hand, and are intentionally not mounted in perfect alignment. Many entryway drawings in this catalog show clavos installed. Pricing for clavos shown in the price list includes clavos on both sides of the door. All clavos are the same price. Speakeasy Option Most of our solid panel doors shown in this catalog may be ordered with one of our three speakeasy options installed. With this option, a small operable rectangular door is installed in the upper door panel at a height of approximately 5 (actual speakeasy height varies with door design). This small door is hinged and latched from the interior side of the door. Choose from one of the two wrought iron grilles shown below to cover the speakeasy. Glass is double thick insulated clear safety glass. Or, choose the solid wood speakeasy option. Decorative Glass Options for Wrought Iron Doors Choose from the following 7 different glass texture options to complement your entry door from GlassCraft. Two additional Premium Glass Texture Options are shown on the next page. Not all 9 glass texture options are for all doors. These textured glasses are used to produce an insulated glass (IG) panel to fit into your door, sidelte, or transom. The obscurity, or capacity to see through the glass panel, varies depending upon the glass texture chosen. All glass textures are the same price, except for the Premium Options. The Clear Bevel option features a 1 inch wide beveled edge on all sides of each glass panel. The Antique Clear glass option features imported European clear glass that features an old or antique texture. Both the Clear Bevel and the Antique Clear are the same price. Our decorative glass panels are Quality Crafted in our workshops to assure you of excellent craftsmanship and elegant design. All glass panels in this catalog are either triple glazed (leaded glass option) or double glazed. Triple Glazed Insulated Glass Panels In this catalog, two glass designs feature leaded glass assembly the Sandringham design and the Tudor design. These two glass panels feature our triple-thick IG or insulated glass panels improve security, are more energy efficient, easy to clean, and help to protect the decorative glass panel from possible breakage. In our doors and sidelites, the triple-thick IG panels permanently seal the glass panel inside of two sheets of tempered safety glass. These two decorative glass panels are with three metal color finish options which include our exclusive pewter, brass, or antique black. Prehang Options for all Custom Doors This catalog features many drawings of prehung entryways, which are assembled door entryway units that are ready for installation into a home. The door or doors are mounted into door jambs by their hinges, and the unit includes all jambs, threshold, sidelites, transom, etc, as shown or required. The door lockset hardware is not provided by GlassCraft in a prehung entry unless added as an option, but the mounting holes will be drilled for your lock and handle set if requested. The doors may be ordered individually as individual slabs, in addition to being as prehung units. Prehung units include interior casing and brick mold, T-astragal (for double doors), sill cover, door sweep, weatherstripping, and adjustable threshold, plus 3 hinges on 6 8 high doors and 4 hinges on 8 0 high doors. Prehung units are also with or without subcasing. Prehung units may be ordered unfinished or factory prefinished. Prehung units are all produced using a continuous sill for added strength, weather and rot resistance, and beauty. Your builder or remodeler may prefer to prehang your door using our matching jamb components. Lock Preparation Options We can prepare your interior or exterior prehung door or entryway with a double-style bore for a variety of passage and exterior lock and latch sets, including certain mortise locks. Also is prepping the door with a pocket for the 3- point locks from W&F Hardware, Emtek, and Rocky Mountain Hardware. These locks are installed into the entryway as an upgrade (see next page). 3. Prehang Configuration Options Doors in this catalog are shown in many prehung unit configurations, but we can produce almost any door entry configuration. In this catalog, each configuration drawing includes a reference number for ease in finding the correct price in the price book. 4. 5. Hinge Color Options When ordering a prehung door, you may choose from any of the following seven hinge color options.
