PTC Integrity Process Director Server Installation Guide
Prerequisites Before starting to install PTC Integrity Process Director you should first ensure you have the following roles and features installed on a Windows Server 2008 server: Application server o Ensure you have the ASP.NET 3.5 (or above) feature installed. Web server o Ensure you have the application development and ASP.NET features installed. Other required services/products that may be installed on this or any other server: Microsoft SQL Server 2005 (standard edition) or above o Microsoft SQL Server 2008 (Workgroup edition) as a base requirement for MSSQL 2008 installations. SMTP Server o This can be installed as part of the Web Server role on the same server if necessary. DNS Services o Should the server be required to be accessible from an existing domain (and not have its own domain assigned) then some DNS configuration is necessary to forward Process Director process library requests to the server. For more information on DNS configuration please contact PTC technical support who will be able to recommend settings specific to your installation. Installation In the Setup folder run Setup.exe as administrator.
Select Next
Read the license agreement. If you accept the terms, check the box and select Next.
Select the Web Site you want to install to and select Next.
Web domain This is the beginning of the URL that will be used to access the site. On intranets this is often the server name, but may be changed according to DNS settings. AppPool name The application pool that will be created in IIS for the application. Domain for AppPool The domain that the AppPool user will be created in. This can be the server name. Login for AppPool The username that the AppPool will run under. If the user does not exist it will be created. Password for AppPool The password for the user listed above.
Database name The name of the database that will be created. SQL Server Instance The SQL server name (and instance if necessary). SQL Logon type Windows if integrated authenticated is used (recommended) else use SQL server authentication, SQL Username and SQL Password Leave these blank if Windows authentication is used. Enter the username and password if SQL server authentication is used.
This is the location that process media (images and files) will be saved to.
Select the components to be installed.
Select Install.
The application will be installed.
Once completed you can complete the configuration of IIS according to your specifications. Generate Machine Keys It is generally a recommended configuration to set machine keys for a IIS hosted application. Select the ProcessDirector website and double click the Machine key icon in the right hand pane. Once the machine key configuration has opened click the Generate keys option from the right hand Action bar then click Apply. If you are going to host multiple front end web servers to create a web farm you should make sure all web server installations use the same machine keys. SMTP Email Setup Select the ProcessDirector website and double click the SMTP E-mail icon in the right hand pane. You should then enter the SMTP server settings you plan to use. If the SMTP feature is installed on the web server machine then the default settings of port 25 on localhost should be correct. Signing in Your PTC Integrity Process Director installation should now be complete and you should be able to access the site using the chosen URL servername/processdirector and sign in using the email address generated by the bootstrap procedure: admin@example.com with the password: dfg%37k&5
Once you can sign in you should: Change the email address and password created by the bootstrap. Create you process libraries and additional user accounts for each library. Please refer to the PTC Integrity Process Director Product Guide for information. Using LDAP for authentication PTC Integrity Process Director can be accessed using your username and password credential from an LDAP server rather than the default email based authentication model. To configure Process Director to use an LDAP server please contact PTC technical support for assistance.
