Since all six counties are using the same software, we are able to achieve economies of scale by creating scripts, reports, etc. that benefit all counties. Additionally, Lane County maintains the tax lot data for three of these counties and has created an Internet mapping application for those three counties, giving their citizens access to property and map information.

Custom Application Products Lane County has developed and supports a wide range of applications specific to local government. Depending on the technology used, these products are available as purchased or as hosted software packages. Again, cost savings may be possible through economies of scale. These services include data center facilities, network services, systems support, database administration, application development and support, and end user desktop support. As a local government information services department, we are uniquely positioned (in culture, knowledge, and business function) to work with other local government agencies in providing technology services and have done so for over forty years. Our strategic direction is to reduce expenses for all of our partners through increased economies of scale. Lane County Information proactively seeks opportunities to collaborate with other local governments to reduce costs for all parties involved. These savings take many forms including joint application development, licensing software, hosting shared systems, sharing data center space, and providing consulting services. As a local government, we are able to easily partner with other local governments through Intergovernmental Agreements saving procurement and contracting costs. Our services are provided as both a partner and professional vendor and our service levels are guaranteed through written service level agreements.
