Access Your Digital Books Once you have enrolled at Wall Street English, you will receive a username and a password, which allows you to access all your student services and your Digital Book. Web Access Go to the following URL: www.wsistudents.com. Once you have entered the website you will see the screen below: Use your username and password information to login. You will receive your login details from your Consultant or in your First Lesson. App Access You can also access your Digital Books when you are offline by downloading and installing the Digital Books app to your tablet, PC, or Mac. Install the Wall Street English Digital Books app to your ipad or Android tablet from the itunes or Google Play App Store. Install to your Mac or PC from www.wsistudents.com: On the top part of the page you will see two icons on the banner which are: When you click on this button, you will close your session. Logoff Alerts Alerts will pop up to give you information about your course. For example, when a new book is available. 4
My Library Once you login you will find your Student Manuals. The Student Manuals in color are the ones you are currently have completed and are currently studying: Your future manuals will be shown in grey, which you will have access to in the future: Select your current manual: 5
On the bottom left hand side you will see a percentage score (0%), which shows the overall progress of the manual. The index of each manual is made up of four units and each unit contains three lessons and a review: Unit The lock symbol indicates whether you hav e begun that unit. Not started Started Indicates the percentage of the unit which has been completed. 0% Complete When there has been no activity. Almost complete + percentage When the unit has been started. The number that appears indicates the percentage that has been completed. Complete When all the lessons in the unit have been completed. 6
Lesson The dots indicate the number of activities contained in the lesson. Blue dots indicate the number of activities that have been completed and the gray dots indicate the activities that have not been completed. All dots will be blue once the lesson is complete. NOT STARTED STARTED COMPLETED Review Unit Review Unit automatically appears once the unit is completed. This unit contains all the activities listed in the lessons. In this case, the number of attempts for completing an activity is unlimited. The scores obtained in the review units are not saved to the gradebook. Exercise Screen To start doing the exercises, choose a unit and it will drop down. Select the lesson: 7
Validate and Solution Once you click on a lesson, a window will load and the first page of the manual will show. You have three attempts for most exercises and one attempt for activities which are not graded, but show possible answers. Once you finish the exercise click on Validate. If you have three attempts you can make changes to your incorrect answers two more times before the activity is locked, the answer key is visible, and your score is saved. If you make changes, click validate to check your new answers: Once you have completed your three attempts you can check the answers by clicking on solution and hide to see you original answers again. 8
Reference Screen Most exercises have reference screens. Reference screens contain the language needed to complete the activity, usually vocabulary lists, grammar explanations, language functions, or business expressions in PRO manuals: The vocabulary reference screen offer access to definitions and pronunciation files from Longman Dictionaries. Three different dictionaries are referenced depending on your level. If you click on a word, a pop up will appear showing the definition of the word. If you open the definition of the word, you will see two audio file icons: one contains the pronunciation of the word in British English, and the other one contains the pronunciation of the word in American English. 9
Icons While doing the lessons, on the right hand side you have some tools which you can access. The following are the tools available: View reference text. This screen contains the language (vocabulary, grammar, expressions) necessary to complete the exercise. This button allows you to write notes on the page using a pen. This button allows you to highlight notes or text on the page. This button allows you to insert post-it notes while doing the exercises. This button allows you to print individual pages once the activity has been completed and validated. You cannot print empty pages Progress Bar: The number of blue boxes indicates the number of activities completed. The number of gray boxes indicates the activities that have not been completed. 10
End of lesson When you finish the last exercise of the lesson, click on the right to send your exercises for correction and then press OK: When accepted the screen below will appear. On this screen you can see your scores for the lesson. The total score of the lesson is based on the number of exercises in each category, i.e. Vocabulary, Expressions, Language and the score you received in each one. 11
My Gradebook In the tab My Gradebook you can see your scores and progress. The top summary shows you the average scores obtained in the book you are currently completing grouped by language skill, i.e. Vocabulary, Language and Expressions. While you are in the My Gradebook tab you can also see the scores for the other books which you have completed by clicking on the drop down. If you scroll down you can see the scores of each lesson completed. You will be shown the average score of the lesson and the average scores obtained in the individual exercises grouped by language skill: Vocabulary, Language and Expressions: 12
Review Mode Once you have completed all the lessons in a unit, a review unit will appear. In your library, your bookmark will change to Review Mode. In Review Mode you can only practice exercises and review answers in the completed lessons. Your score will not change. Review mode is represented by a bookmark labeled Review Mode in the My Library screen: 13
