2 All Apps for the ipad can only be purchased through the itunes Store. This can either be done via itunes on the designated MacBook or via the ipad itself. Each school has been set up with an itunes Account ready to purchase Apps. Please note that you must use the designated app to purchase apps. Do not sync the ipad with another itunes account and do not attempt to use the schools itunes account and password on any other device. Any attempt to do this may result in locking the itunes account and become in breach of the Apple terms and conditions. There are two ways to pay for App in the itunes Store; 1. Adding a credit card to the account 2. Using a pay as you go itunes Gift Card (Advised method) Entering details of your credit card will remain on the account for all future purchases or by purchasing an itunes gift card. Our recommended method would be to use the itunes gift card for purchases. These can be brought from many high-street stores and online retailers and start at 15. It can be very easy to accrue a high bill so therefore a gift code acts like a mobile phone pay as you go top up voucher. You can only spend what is on the account and will make purchases and funds much easier to manage. Adding funds to your itunes Account 1. Open itunes on the designated MacBook or Mac Mini which has been configured for your ipads

3 2. Sign in with your itunes Account username and password 3. Enter your itunes account details provided to you. Once signed in your account details will be displayed in the top right of itunes

4 4. Click on the Redeem link on the Quick Links on the right hand side of itunes 5. Scratch off the back of the itunes gift card to reveal a code. Type the code into the box and press the Redeem button

5 6. Once your Redeem code has been accepted, your balance will be displayed ready to use to purchase Apps.

7 Purchasing Apps 1. Click on the App Store on the top navigation bar and browse or use the search facility to locate Apps Remember to search for ipad Apps by clicking on the ipad button 2. Once you have chosen the app you wish to download, click on the Buy App button

8 3. The App will start to download. The amount will be deducted from the account which can be seen on the right of the top navigation bar 4. Your Apps will now be displayed in the Apps tab on the left hand side of the Library

9 Syncing your Apps with your ipad Now you have downloaded your apps you need to sync them to your ipad. 1. Open itunes on the designated Mac

10 2. Connect the ios device to the computer using the included USB cable and select it in itunes under Devices on the left-hand side. 3. Set up which items are to be synced: Click the corresponding tabs in itunes to specify which information you want synced between the ios device and your computer.

11 4. Click Apply, in the lower-right corner of the screen, to sync. You can change your sync options at any time. Each time you sync, content is synced between your ipad device and the computer to reflect new, updated, or deleted content.
