Table of Contents General Description 2 Topic Coverage 2 Features & Benefits 2 List of Manuals 3 Table of Contents of the Manual(s) 3 Additional Equipment Required to Perform the Exercises 4 Optional Equipment 4 Specifications 4 Module Options Description 5 General Description The Refrigeration Training System is an integrated training system that introduces students to the principles and components of a refrigeration system using industrial and commercial devices. The training system clearly demonstrates the operation of the most common refrigeration system configurations, including dual evaporator systems. Lockable fault-insertion switches allow students to practice troubleshooting skills, which may be conducted at either the schematic control panel or at the suspect devices and components. Fully integrated courseware guides students through alternative modes of system set-up and control. The training system includes all the equipment required to perform the exercises contained in the courseware. Optional equipment adds to the efficiency of the refrigeration, air conditioning, and heating training laboratories. The Refrigeration Training System is supported by correlated courseware employing a competency-based, individualized approach to the study of intermediate refrigeration topics. The courseware consists of a training manual organized in a unit/exercise format with clearly stated objectives. Topic Coverage Introduction to the System Trainer Setup Receiver, Accumulators, Oil Separators Compressor Operation of Metering Devices System Control Services Evaporator and Condenser Principles Refrigeration Systems Variations of System Loading System Troubleshooting Features & Benefits Two forced-air evaporator coils operating individually, in series, or in parallel, enclosed in chambers with clear acrylic windows Variable-speed fans and adjustable damper to simulate changing environmental conditions Schematic panel with multicolored electrical and tubing schematics, as well as indicator lamps and functional duplication of test points Lockable fault-insertion switches to introduce 18 distinct electrical faults Heavy-duty steel mobile stand with heavy-duty casters 2 Festo Didactic

Parameter Protection Fault Insertion Switches Number 18 Physical Characteristics Intended Location Dimensions (H x W x D) Net Weight Value Module Options Description Filter dryer Refrigeration Charging Equipment 3440-55 Oil separator Manual valves Heat exchanger Safety pressure switch Mains and compressor breaker switch On the floor (stands on casters) 1900 x 2200 x 800 mm (74.8 x 86.6 x 31.5 in) 281 kg (619.5 lb) The Refrigeration Charging Equipment is an accessory kit in refrigeration and air conditioning. The Refrigeration Charging Equipment is designed to enable students to evacuate and charge refrigeration training systems. It consists of a manifold, a charging hose kit, a vacuum pump, an automatic refrigerant charging meter, and a heater blanket. Features & Benefits Easy-to-read gauges Forged-brass body with metal valve handles Color-coded hoses Hose cover pin-pricked to resist bubbling and bursting Two-stage vacuum pump for great efficiency Refrigerant charging meter automatically shuts off when charging is completed Compatible with refrigerants R-12, R-134a, R-404A, R-502, and R-507 Specifications Festo Didactic 5

Parameter Refrigeration Charging Equipment Value Manifold Charging hose kit Vacuum pump Automatic refrigerant charging meter Heater blanket Vizi-Vapor Charging Accessory 3440-60 The Vizi-Vapor Charging Accessory is an accessory in refrigeration and air conditioning. It transforms liquid refrigerant into saturated vapor visible in the transparent cylinder. This helps ensuring the system is properly charged. The Vizi-Vapor Charging Accessory requires the Refrigeration Charging Equipment, Model 3440-5. Refrigerant Recovery Unit 3445-15 The Refrigerant Recovery Unit enables students to recover refrigerant for storage or recycling. A low-pressure indicator on the unit monitors the pressure condition on the suction side of the recovery system. A filter dryer and an oil separator are used to condition the refrigerant before it enters the recovery system compressor. At the high-pressure side of the recovery system compressor, a second oil separator ensures good lubrication by returning the oil at the suction side of the compressor, thus avoiding oil migration to the storage tank. A high-pressure indicator is also provided to monitor the pressure conditions on the discharge side of the compressor. A high-pressure controller will automatically shut off the compressor if the discharge pressure exceeds a preset limit. A forced-air condenser is used to transform the high-pressure refrigerant vapor to a highpressure liquid refrigerant. 6 Festo Didactic
