1. Safety information 1.1. Environmental recommendations All superfluous packaging materials have been removed. We have done all we can to ensure that our packaging can easily be separated into three types of material: cardboard (box), expanded polystyrene (packing material) and polyethylene (bags, protective foam sheets). Your device is composed of materials that can be recycled and reused if it is dismantled by a specialist company. Please follow local regulations concerning the manner in which you should dispose of old packaging materials, used batteries and your old device. 1.2. Warnings Valid for SIGFOX Demonstrators by Adeunis RF references ARF8075AA/ARF8075BA. Read the instructions in the manual. The safety provided by this product can only be achieved via usage that complies with its purpose. Maintenance must only be carried out by qualified personnel. Warning, when the equipment is open, do not carry out operations other than those specified in these instructions. Warning: do not open the product, risk of electric shock. Warning: for your safety, before carrying out any technical work on this equipment, it is essential that it is disconnected from the power supply. 1.3. Recommendations for use The device must be installed in a location with sufficient ventilation to remove all risk of internal overheating and it must not be covered by objects such as newspapers, cloths or curtains, etc. The device s aerial must be free and at least 10 cm distant from all conducting materials. The device must never be exposed to sources of heat, such as heating equipment. Do not place the device close to burning objects such as lit candles, blowtorches, etc. The device must not be exposed to corrosive chemical agents or solvents likely to damage the plastic or corrode metal parts. 1.4. Disposal of waste by users in private households within the European Union This symbol on the product or its packaging indicates that this product must not be disposed of with your other household waste. Instead, it is your responsibility to dispose of your waste by taking it to a collection point for the recycling of electric and electronic devices. The separate collection and recycling of your waste at the time of disposal will contribute to conserving natural resources and guarantee recycling that is mindful of the environment and human health. For further information concerning the nearest recycling centre to your home, contact the nearest town hall, your household waste disposal service or the shop where you purchased the product. 2. Presentation of the Demonstrator The Demonstrator comes in the form of a remote control. Charging light USB connector The Demonstrator contains an accelerometer, a GPS as well as a temperature sensor. 3. Charging the Demonstrator The Demonstrator uses a rechargeable battery. On connecting the Demonstrator to a computer via a mini-usb cable, the Demonstrator automatically starts charging, even if the ON/OFF switch is in the OFF position (function similar to that of a mobile phone). During charging, the charging light is red. When charging has finished, the charging light changes to green. Product charging Charging finished When the battery is completely discharged, you should allow 8 hours charging to fully recharge it again. Page 5 of 9

4. Switching the product on When you switch the ON/OFF button towards the right, the product is switched on and starts in nominal mode. OFF Position ON Position 4.1. Nominal mode On power-up, LED 2 lights up with a continuous red light for a maximum of 8 minutes. This phase corresponds to the GPS s initialisation/synchronisation phase. The length of this phase is dynamic: if the GPS synchronises before the period of 8 minutes has elapsed, LED2 will become orange and the initialisation phase will end 50 seconds later. During the GPS s initialisation phase, no action is possible (no transmission of RF frames). Once this initialisation phase has been completed, the product enters the nominal operating cycle. This cycle is composed of 5 stages. Stage 1 LED 1 green with rapid flashing (2 times), LED 2 continuous red after 3 seconds. Meaning Wake up of the GPS pending synchronisation When GPS is synchronised, LED 2 switches to continuous orange. If the GPS is not synchronised, the LED remains on continuous red. 2 LED 1 flashing red 3 times A SIGFOX message is being sent, with 2 repeats 3 LED 1 continuous green while waiting and during reception Reception window, waiting for a response from the SIGFOX server 4 LED 1 flashes red once The response has been received. The OOB frame is sent 5 LED 1 flashes green 5 times and rapidly The cycle is repeated periodically, every 10 minutes. A diagram is given in APPENDIX 2 with a visual description of the nominal cycle. 4.2. Manual triggering of frame transmission The cycle finished correctly. The response received from the server is output on the Demonstrator s serial link. There are two ways of triggering frame transmission manually. Frames can only be sent between two cycles of nominal operation. When a nominal operating cycle is being executed, users can do nothing. 4.2.1 Pressing BP1 Pressing BP1 triggers the execution of a nominal cycle, and the transmission of SIGFOX frames. 4.2.2 Accelerometer The remote control includes an accelerometer. If it is shaken, it triggers the execution of a nominal cycle, and therefore transmission of SIGFOX frames. Page 6 of 9

4.2.3 To observe the frame transmitted by the demonstrator The frame transmitted by the demonstrator can be viewed on Adeunis RF s dedicated web page. To use this web interface, please go to the Sigfox demonstrator page on the Adeunis RF website and click on the link on the bottom of the page. This interface can be used to view the GPS points as well as the temperature emitted by the demonstrator s sensors. 5. Format of the payload sent by the demonstrator 5.1. APPENDIX 1: GPS Management When the power is switched on, the GPS carries out a cold start-up. The initial phase lasting a maximum of 8 minutes, may appear long but is essential so that the GPS module can acquire and update its almanac and ephemeris data. Once the GPS has acquired its data it sleeps in order to optimise energy consumption. Subsequently, the GPS wakes up for 14s every minute to refresh its position. If the GPS acquires sufficient satellite data during its initial phase, it should be able to resynchronise within these 14s. However, depending on the conditions of use, this is not always the case. It may be therefore, that certain frames contain no GPS coordinates. IMPORTANT: When the GPS has not been used for a period of time (several days), or when it has been taken switched off over long distances (from one town to another or from one country to another), the satellite data the GPS previously acquired will be completely wrong. In this case, the GPS will have difficulty in synchronising. It will not be abnormal therefore for the GPS to take several minutes (>5 min) to resynchronise during the initial phase.
