Milwaukee Brewers (31-36) at LOS ANGELES DODGS (35-33) RHP Zach Davies (5-3, 2.88) vs. LHP Julio Urías (0-2, 5.82) Friday, June 17, 2016 7:10 p.m. PT Dodger Stadium Los Angeles, CA Game 69 Home Game 33 (17-15) Night Game 53 (25-27) TV: SNLA/SNLA Spanish Radio: AM 570 (Eng.)/KTNQ 1020 AM (Span.)/AM 1540 (Kor.) FRIDAY NIGHT FIGHT: The Dodgers tonight continue a sevengame homestand (0-1) with the second of four games against the Milwaukee Brewers, following an 8-6 loss last night. Los Angeles trails the Giants by 6.5 games in the National League West. After the fourgame set with Milwaukee, the Dodgers will host the National League East-leading Washington Nationals for three games next week. The Dodgers took two of three from the Brewers at home last season, but Milwaukee is an MLB-best 15-7 at Chavez Ravine since 2009. The Brewers are one of just three NL clubs (Phillies and Marlins) with a winning record in Los Angeles over that time. After a six-run effort in the loss last night, the Dodgers are now 11-2 at home this season when scoring at least four runs. Tonight is Filipino Heritage Night and, as part of the festivities, apl.de.ap from the Black Eyed Peas will throw the ceremonial first pitch while Levy Restaurants will offer the Pinoy Dog, featuring an all-beef hot dog topped with diced spam and pineapple, Sabretts onions in sauce and chicharrones. SLIGHT BUMP IN THE ROAD: The Dodger bullpen had a tough go of it last night, allowing five runs in 5.0 innings, but still ranks third in the National League in A: Bullpen A, 2016 NL New York Mets 3.12 Washington Nationals 3.12 Los Angeles Dodgers 3.16 (73 /208.0 IP) Adam Liberatore has not allowed a run in his last 14 games (9.0 IP) since May 20 and has tossed scoreless relief in 27 of 28 appearances this year. He is limiting opposing hitters to a.191 batting avg., including a.125 mark (5-for-40) vs. lefties. Joe Blanton ranks among NL relievers in opponents batting average (.134, 2 nd ) and WHIP (0.70, T-1 st ). GETTING BETT ALL THE TIME: Dodger rookie starter Julio Urías had his best big league outing last time out, allowing two runs on four hits in 5.1 innings Sunday in San Francisco. Urías was cruising into the sixth inning, before allowing a two-run homer to the Giants Brandon Belt, his only mistake. The left-hander struck out seven and walked just one, giving him 18 strikeouts and just three walks in his last three starts. The native of Sinaloa, Mexico, is averaging 11.12 strikeouts per nine innings in his four starts this season while limiting left-handers to a.200 average (5-for-25). Tomorrow morning, Urias and Dodger reliever J.P. Howell will help the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation (LADF) dedicate its 43rd and 44th Dodgers Dreamfields at Belvedere Park in East L.A. More than 400 pre-selected youngsters from the Dodgers RBI program at Belvedere Park will be on hand for tomorrow s event which includes a youth baseball clinic conducted by the two players and Dodger alumni. The program begins at 10:30 a.m. and the clinic gets underway at 11:30 a.m. Dodgers Dreamfields at Belvedere Park partners include the County of Los Angeles Department of Parks and Recreation, LA84 Foundation, NIKE, Security Benefit and Supervisor Hilda L. Solis, First District, Board of Supervisors, County of Los Angeles. HILLTOPPS: The Dodger pitching staff has been rock solid over the last three weeks: Dodger MLB Ranks Since May 22 A 2.80 3 rd (68 /218.1 IP) >Relievers 1.94 1 st (18 /83.1 IP) Opponents Avg..197 1 st Strikeouts 242 2 nd Strikeouts/Walks 4.17 1 st WHIP 0.97 1 st Overall, the Dodgers rank fourth in the Majors with a 3.39 team A, while placing second with a.216 opponents batting average and 629 strikeouts. MATCHUP vs. BREWS Dodgers: 2 nd, NL West (6.5 GB) Brewers: 4 th, NL Central (14.5 GB) All-Time: LA leads series, 67-51 (33-26 at Dodger Stadium) 2016: Milwaukee leads series, 1-0 (1-0 at Dodger Stadium) June 16 @LA: L, 6-8 W: Thornburg L: Baez S: Jeffress ON THE DOTTED LINE: Today, the Dodgers signed 10 more players taken last week in the 2016 First-Year Player Draft, including firstrounder (No. 20 overall) Gavin Lux, second-rounder Mitchell White (65) and fourth-rounder Donald DJ Peters. Los Angeles has now officially signed 18 of its 42 selections, including seven of its top 12 picks from the 2016 draft. DOING GLOVEWORK: By defensive efficiency, which measures turning balls in play into outs, the Dodgers rank second in the Majors, trailing only the Cubs, with a.720 efficiency rating, according to Baseball-Reference.com. The Dodgers have committed just 33 errors, the third-fewest of any National League team, behind the Nationals (24) and Giants (29). The club s.987 fielding pct. ranks third in the NL. WHAT A FINISH: On Wednesday, Dodger closer Kenley Jansen earned his 161 st career save, tying him with Eric Gagné for the most in franchise history. As he eyes the record, it should be noted that with 19 saves, Jansen is also one save shy of becoming the first Dodger to record five seasons of at least 20 saves. Jansen has tossed scoreless relief in 25 of 28 games this year and his 0.76 WHIP is tied for third in the NL. Chase Utley reached base twice last night, but failed to cross the plate with run No. 1,000 in his career. With his next run scored, Utley will become just the 13 th active player to score 1,000 career runs and the first to cross that milestone in a Dodger uniform since Devon White on May 5, 1999. ROCK THE VOTE!: All-Star balloting is underway and Los Angeles players need the fans help to be voted into the NL s starting lineup. Fans can vote for starters a total of 35 times online at Dodgers.com/vote, including a maximum of five valid ballots cast in any 24-hour period. Voting ends Thursday, June 30 at 8:59 p.m. Corey Seager tops NL shortstops in hits (tied) and runs, while ranking among the position leaders in home runs (2 nd ), RBI (3 rd ), batting average (3 rd ), and slugging percentage (2 nd ). Trayce Thompson belted his 11 th homer of the season last night, a three-run shot in the third inning. Thompson is hitting.329 (24-for-73) with eight homers and 14 RBI in 27 games at home. He also leads the Dodgers and ranks 14 th in the National League (min. 150 AB) with a.528 slugging percentage. GET HIM TO SAN DIEGO: Dodger shortstop Corey Seager is one of three Major Leaguers to lead his team in batting average, home runs and RBI this season (Yoenis Cespedes, Eric Hosmer). Seager is looking to accomplish something very few rookies have: Rookies Who Led Their Team in BA, HR, RBI Since 1969 BA HR RBI 2016 Corey Seager, LAD.274 15 36 2014 Jose Abreu, CWS.317 36 107 2001 Albert Pujols, StL.329 37 130 1993 Mike Piazza, LAD.318 35 112 1987 Mark McGwire, Oak.289 49 118 1972 Greg Luzinski, Phi.281 18 68 URCE: STATS, LLC ON THE REHAB TRAIL: Yasiel Puig (strained left hamstring) went 1-for-2 with a single, a walk and a run scored in the Single-A Rancho Cucamonga Quakes victory in San Jose last night.
