1 OMAHA STORM CHASERS BASEBALL CLUB OFFICIAL GAME INFORMATION OMAHA STORM CHASERS 11-9, 2nd American Northern RHP Joe Blanton 2-1, 2.38 ERA (4 PCL Starts in 2015) UPCOMING PROBABLES GAME 21 OF 144 ROAD GAME 13 OF 72 FRIDAY, MAY 1, :35 P.M. CDT SECURITY SERVICE FIELD May Colorado Springs - 7:05 p.m. CDT OMA RHP Clayton Mortensen (2-1, 5.52 ERA) LAST NIGHT S WIN: The Storm Chasers notched their seventh win in their last nine games at Security Service Field dating back to the start of last season as they took the series opener 9-4. Reymond Fuentes had four hits in the game, more than he had in the three hits (3-for-27) he had in his previous eight games combined. John Lamb earned his first victory of the season with 5.2 innings of two-run ball with six strikeouts, and he now has 15 runs of support in his first two appearances this season (had only ten runs of support in his first six starts last season). HIT MERRIFIELD: Whit Merrifield extended his hitting streak to 14 games, the longest hitting streak in the Pacific Coast League this season (there is only one other double-digit hitting streak active in the PCL currently, Roger Kieschnick of Salt Lake at 10 games). The streak is also the longest in Triple-A this season, and Merrifield is one of seven players in MiLB with a 14+ game hitting streak (it is tied for the second longest active streak, as Dwight Smith Jr. of New Hampshire, Double-A for Toronto, has a 16-game streak and Gianfranco Wawoe of Clinton, Single-A for Seattle, has a 14-gamer). Merrifield is batting.368 (21-for-57) during the streak, raising his average from.208 to.321. Whit had the longest hitting streak for Omaha last season at 15 games (July 1 through July 17), which was also the longest hitting streak in his career. BLANKING BLANTON: Joe Blanton has tossed back-to-back scoreless outings, both six innings, to cut his ERA in more than half from 5.06 to 2.38 (which ranks 7th in the PCL). They are his first back-to-back scoreless starts since he did so with the Philadelphia Phillies on September 16 and 22, Blanton has only had one streak of three scoreless starts in his career, as he did so in the Oakland organization with Single-A Kane County in June and July of CUTHBERT ROAD SHOW: Cheslor Cuthbert has collected a hit in ten straight road games (went 0-for-5 in the season opener at New Orleans). It is the longest active road hitting streak in the PCL, and is tied for both the longest and the longest active road game hitting streak in Triple-A with Joey Butler of Durham. During the streak, Cuthbert is batting.406 (13-for-32). STREAK VS SPRINGS: The Chasers have won six straight against Colorado Springs dating back to last season. Omaha won eight straight against the Sky Sox over the seasons.
