I have thoroughly enjoyed my time but am equally excited to be going back on class next term. Some concerned parents have approached me for advice on movie and game classifications. I have been asked on numerous occasions on what to do when children under 15 want to watch or play M or MA15+ or they are exposed to them at friends places. My own 2 boys argued endlessly with me on this topic. Rather than give my opinion I thought I would give the facts in more detail. Here are the Australian Classifications explained so you can make informed decisions of your own. Wishing you happy and safe holidays, Nina Judd Principal The content is very mild in impact. The G classification is suitable for everyone. G products may contain classifiable elements such as language and themes that are very mild in impact. However, some G-classified films or computer games may contain content that is not of interest to children. The content is mild in impact. The impact of PG (Parental Guidance) classified films and computer games should be no higher than mild, but they may contain content that children find confusing or upsetting and may require the guidance or parents and guardians. They may, for example, contain classifiable elements such as language and themes that are mild in impact. It is not recommended for viewing or playing by persons under 15 without guidance from parents or guardians The content is moderate in impact. Films and computer games classified M (Mature) contain content of a moderate impact and are recommended for teenagers aged 15 years and over. Children under 15 may legally access this material because it is an advisory category. However, M classified films and computer games may include classifiable elements such as violence and nudity of moderate impact that are not recommended for children under 15 years. Parents and guardians may need to find out more about the film or computer game s specific content, before deciding whether the material is suitable for their child. The content is strong in impact. MA 15+ classified material contains strong content and is legally restricted to persons 15 years and over. It may contain classifiable elements such as sex scenes and drug use that are strong in impact. A person may be asked to show proof of their age before hiring or purchasing an MA 15+ film or computer game. Cinema staff may also request that the person show proof of their age before allowing them to watch an MA 15+ film. Children under the age of 15 may not legally watch, buy or hire MA 15+ classified material unless they are in the company of a parent or adult guardian. Children under 15 who go to the cinema to see an MA 15+ film must be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian for the duration of the film. The parent or adult guardian must also purchase the movie ticket for the child. `The guardian must be an adult exercising parental control over the person under 15 years of age. The guardian needs to be 18 years or older.

Room 1 Class Work We have been learning about growing things as integrated learning during science, yoga and creativity. These are our magical gardens, full of life and powered by the sun. Room 2 We have been having fun with money making money and spending it! We set up our own shop selling Paper Planes, Transformer Paper Planes, string bands, chatterboxes and other items we made. We also enjoyed a visit from Constable Phil Proctor and sat in the Police car. He told us all about what Police do and how to keep safe. Room 3 and 4 We have been looking closely at our emotions. When we recognise our emotions and the way they feel in our bodies and minds, we can better know ourselves. We learn that emotions come and go and learn how to let our emotions change. Election Day Fundraiser Congratulations to all who participated in our Election Day BBQ. Your work and baked goods certainly paid off. Parents and Friends raised $557 and a further $66 was raised for Year 7 s Canberra Camp. Our gratitude goes out to Belinda and Molly who organised and as usual worked hard throughout the day. Thanks to everyone who helped out and had fun on the day. Year 7 Canberra Fundraiser One of our very generous parents who would like to remain anonymous has kindly donated a trailer of cut firewood which will be won via Lucky Squares for $2 each. We have 200 to sell and the winner will be decided by random number once we have filled the squares. Please come into front office to select your square/s or send in $2 with your child to help raise money and to be in the draw! Thank you to our parent for their generosity and hard work in preparing and promising a local delivery of the wood. It will be a great help to parents of Year 7 s with the cost of the Canberra Camp. Rhys Sillhouette and Emotions Entertainment Books Entertainment books are now available for purchase. They are always good value at $65. An order form has already been sent home.
