New Jersey has 8,899,339 residents, as of July 1, 2013. The 11 th most populous states in the na>on. With more than 1,200 persons per square mile, New Jersey is the na>on s most densely populated state. County popula>on ranged from 65,774 (Salem) to 918,888 (Bergen), as of July 1, 2012. Newark City s>ll the largest municipality in New Jersey, while resident popula>on was less than 100 in 4 least populated municipali>es. 2

The 7.7% and 7.1% decline in Sussex and Hunterdon coun>es, respec>vely, were the most severe. % Number of elderly popula>on (65 & over) increased in all coun>es in New Jersey between 2010 and 2012. Sussex (10.7%) and Hunterdon (9.6%) were the fastest growing coun>es. % In 2012, Percentages of elderly popula>on ranged from 28.1% in Ocean County and 27.8% in Cape May County to 13.3% in Hudson County. 14
