ABOUT THE PROGRAM: Objective: The Plumber and Steamfitter Apprenticeship Program is a five (5) year training program. Apprentices earn while they learn by attending classes of related technical instruction in addition to working on the job with journeymen. The objective of the instruction, along with on the job experience, is to train all-around journeymen. Wages: Apprentices earn a percentage of an established journeyman wage rate, by classification. Currently the journeyman wage rate is $42.93 per hour, the apprentice wage is $19.32 per hour and pre-apprentice wage is $16.10 per hour. All wage rates and conditions are subject to change without notice as per the collective bargaining agreement. Wage advances are possible once a year in the apprenticeship term provided that the necessary requirements have been met. The advancements are set by the local Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee (J.A.T.C.) that is locally established in order to supervise the apprentices training. Hours of work: 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with a ½ hour for lunch, or as otherwise modified by union agreement. The work week is forty (40) hours or as otherwise modified by union agreement.
