Members of our workforce are trained in safe work practices and understand the importance of working safely to ensure their personal as well as public welfare. Union Sheet Metal apprentices go through a five-year training program emphasizing safety, and journey persons receive continuous training to stay current in the latest safety practices. The federal Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) reported that nearly 90% of all construction fatalities occurred on non-union jobsites and WNBC News reported that union projects in New York City are six times safer than non-union projects. Focus on Education and Training Our apprentices and journey persons are trained in the use of sophisticated technologies and equipment. Union Sheet Metal Contractors cumulatively spend millions of dollars on our educational facility s skills training program and on-the-job follow through to ensure a high level of performance.
