In-Die Tapping Units (FTU)

In-Die Tapping Units 2298. FIBRO In-Die Tapping Units allow the production of threads in a progressive die. This avoids additional expensive processes outside the die tool. The modular design of these FIBRO In-Die Tapping Units with flexible components allows a custom adaptation to any tooling situation. Furthermore, one or more threads can be tooled simultaneously at angles other than 90. FIBRO In-Die Tapping Units can therefore be utilised in a broad spectrum of applications. All of the basic components are quickly and easily removed and can be reused in other tools. A sophisticated design and the use of robust parts guarantee a long life cycle and production reliability of all FIBRO In-Die Tapping Units. Threads are cold formed, not cut, which eliminates swarf. Cold formed threads are more durable than cut threads, as the grain structure of the material is not interrupted. FIBRO In-Die Tapping Units can produce threads up to M16. And by selecting the right components for the job, stroke rates of up to 200 strokes/min (depending on thread diameter) can be achieved. Advantages of FIBRO In-Die Tapping Units: no additional processes required for threading modular, flexible design Threads can be produced in any angle position Several threads produced simultaneously Robust and safe mechanical solution Examples for Application (see below): Left: Two FTUs in one progressive die. Right: Five FTUs with 14 chucking heads in one progressive die. Below: Sample parts Pricing & Delivery Times: On request FIBRO 2 subject to alteration

In-Die Tapping Units 2298. Functional Principle & Mode of Operation: When the FTU is integrated into a progressive die, the press stroke is transformed via the toothed rack and drive unit into a rotational movement. This rotational movement is then transferred to the chucking head via the drive mounted drive wheel and intermediate wheels. The press stroke provides the feed motion for the chucking head. The FTU is elastically supported to provide pitch compensation and spring pressure for gating the thread. Spring Unit Gearbox Types: FIBRO FTUs are classed into various types. Select an FTU to match the size and number of threads to be produced. In-Die Tapping Units 2298. Core Hole Diameter for Formed Threads: Due to material displacement, core hole diameters are larger than in thread cutting. The core hole diameters provided here are guideline values only. The actual core hole diameter is to be determined during production, as it is dependent on the flowability of the material used, as well as the speed in which it can be formed.
