Thank you for purchasing an Interfit Flat Panel Swing Down Lifter. Please read the following instructions fully prior to installation of the unit. In the packaging you will find the following parts: Integrated Lifting Unit Ceiling Door with Brackets iconnect Motor Control Kit with IR & Dry Contact Input Hardware Kit Please ensure all components are complete and undamaged before beginning installation. Ceiling Cut Out As part of the installation process the ceiling will require an opening to be prepared. The follow table gives the Lifting Units hard dimensions, with a recommended cut-out dimension allowing for clearance and the integrated ceiling edge trim. D W H Model Dimensions (mm) Cut Out Recommendations 1481150 W 1194 x D 1115 x H 293 W 1204 x D 1125 1481300 W 1344 x D 1215 x H 293 W 1354 x D 1225 1481450 W 1494 x D 1255 x H 293 W 1504 x D 1265 Ensure you have a suitable structure to fit the Lifter in place, that the installation position allows for access if required, and that no ceiling structure will get in the way, if so, appropriate alterations to the ceiling space may be required. 2

Installation into Roof Cavity There are 3 basic methods for fitting the Lifter Unit, with many possible variables in detail due to the unknown nature of the building construction. But in its basic form you have the following methods: Option 1 Utilise the same 4 off supplied brackets in conjunction with a pair of timbers laid out front and back to the unit, attached to the roof structure, allowing the brackets to be coach bolted to the timber framing. Option 2 Attached to cable / chain shackles to a suitable structure above in the ceiling space, allowing tensioning of the shackles to balance the unit within the roof line. Option 3 Use long threaded brooker rod through the 4 angle brackets, attached to the ceiling in an appropriate manner, with a winding lock off nuts below and above the bracket allowing the unit height to be raised or lower to balance the unit with the roof line. Obviously the installer will need to analyse the install space and make various decisions in how to tackle the installation, with each environment having its own challenges. Option 1 Diagram Option 2 Diagram 3

Option 3 Diagram Installation into Roof Cavity General Advice The Ceiling Door is designed to be fitted to the Integrated Lifting Unit AFTER the unit has been installed in the roof space, not before, or damage may occur to the Door. The ceiling space requires 2 x GPO outlets to power the flat Panel and the Lifting Unit. The Flat Panel is designed to be installed AFTER the Integrated Lifting Unit has been installed in the roof space, and BEFORE the Ceiling Door. You cannot install the Flat Panel with the Door fitted, so be aware of the order of business to avoid frustration. The black lid for the Integrated Lifting Unit has been lightly stuck down with travel tape for the trip to the install site. It is removable to assist in access for the install and cable management. At some stage in the install process you will need to fix the top lid down with the already fitted double sided tape. When you do this is determined by conditions on site. Don t forget to do it, as it may be problematic at the end of the install. The interior of the Integrated Lifting Unit has anti scratch panels fitted for the install process. Do not remove these till the very end of the installation. They are very handy when doing final adjustment of the motor limits. 4

Flat Panel Fitting Model Maximum Panel Size (mm) Lifting Capacity 1481150 W 1150 x H 760 x D 145 25kg 1481300 W 1300 x H 860 x D 145 25kg 1481450 W 1450 x H 900 x D 145 25kg This must be carried out with the Lifting Unit installed in the ceiling and powered up, and with the Ceiling Door removed. The unit has a universal type bracketing system that allows the twin fitting rails to move side to side to best line up with the Panel mounting holes, with a selection of height slots for mount positions. From the rear of the unit undo the grub screws that hold the black nylon rail locks, and move to align with the Panels mounting holes, once done retighten the grub screws into position. You may find the position of the rear privacy blind interferes with this mounting operation, if so, cut the cable ties and allow the blind to retreat gently. Once the panel is fitted you can reposition this blind, with the slat rod behind the top of the Panel with the supplied cable ties. It is the installers responsibility to ensure the fitted position of the Panel in no way interferes with the travel of the Swing Down mechanism, as incorrect placement may damage Flat Panel and Lifting Unit, thus voiding warranty. If the Flat Panel has some fittings that make it difficult to fit neatly with the universal bracketing system, you can remove the side angle brackets that hold the entire mounting system to the door frame and reserve those angles which in effect moves the fitting position forward giving greater rear clearance. 5

Cable Management You will notice that the power cable for the motor drive of the Lifting Unit has already been installed in the cable management system situated at the rear of the unit, stage right. It has been fitted with a proprietary plug that fits in the iconnect Motor Controller. You will find a mirror reverse cable management system stage left, which has a demonstration cable fitted to assist you in understanding the cable pathway and method. Remove this and install the Panel power cable and AV source cables. Make sure to avoid tight bends and leave slack in the system for movement so no cables get damaged or pinched. Run mechanism and inspect for problems. Ceiling Door Fitting The Door has 6 off hanging brackets designed to fit to 6 off hang positions on the Door Frame. Note: This is a 2 person job. The Ceiling Door can have its edges damaged during this fitting process unless care is taken. Motor door frame to the down 45 degrees approximately Hold the Ceiling Door, one person on each side from the rear and guide the top of the Door into the rear space of the Lifting Unit and guide onto the fitting position, pull down to secure. Fit the 4 off side bolts with tube spacers for mechanical fixing. It is important to have control of the lifter when first closing the Ceiling Door in case of misalignment of the door, as damage to the Ceiling Door will follow such an event, so be able to stop the mechanism on the first travel. 6

Door Alignment If after installing the door it is misaligned please utilise the supplied packers, these packers are designed to allow finer adjustment on the door. The packers are already installed on the door and can be removed and reorganised as required to rectify any alignment issues. To install the packers you will first need to again remove the door and detach the back privacy blind. Once the door has been removed from the unit you will need to remove the hanging brackets from the door. Remove and reorganise the packers positioned behind the hanging brackets as required to correct the alignment on the door, using the longer screws supplied re-drill the holes to secure the brackets. You will not be able to utilise the existing holes. Packer Hanging Bracket Hanging Bracket installed 7

Motor Limit Adjustment Having fitted the Flat Panel and the Ceiling Door you need to close the mechanism and inspect the finished Ceiling Door close position. With luck it will require no adjustment, but with varying Panel weights the chances are it will require adjustment. Are the side protective covers still in place? If not, refit them, as the following process could damage the interior paint finish unless care is taken. Open the mechanism fully. The limits are behind the central cover of the moving mechanism. You will see 4 off fixing button head Allen bolts that need removing. Ensure a second person holds the cover when removing the bolts. Lower the rear of the cover a bit and unhook the front top cover. The cover is attached to the top privacy blind, allow it to hang under its own weight, the blind will carry this load. When making adjustments and testing stop positions a second person needs to hold the cover and blind out of the way of the travelling Ceiling Plate to stop them colliding and causing damage. You will see 2 x square holes, these are the limits adjustments: Top Hole Up and Closed Limit Clockwise for more (higher) closing stop position, anti-clockwise for less (lower) closing stop position. Lower Hole Down and Open Limit Clockwise for more (lower) opening stop position, anti-clockwise for less (higher) opening stop position Never adjust these limits when the mechanism is at maximum stop position, but motor to amid position before making adjustments. Adjust limit finely. If you adjust the limits incorrectly this voids any warranty. Once adjusted re-fit the cover with the 4 off bolts, remove interior protection strips. 8

Maintenance This unit requires no specific maintenance, but it is recommended that a yearly visual inspection of the unit occur. The method of installation should take into account the possibility that the unit may require servicing sometime in the future. It is a mechanical device and as such the need to remove it from the ceiling space should to be planned for, in the initial installation. Warning This lifter has a door travel specification that allows the ceiling door to open a maximum 45 degrees past dead vertical. This means the door when adjusted fully open swings out past the Integrated Lifting Unit devices dimensions. In essences it opens wider than the device. Why is this a concern? If you mount this unit in close proximity to the wall, the Ceiling Door, if fully adjusted, would hit and damage the wall and the unit itself. Screen Technics has adjusted the Ceiling Door so that the travel does not extend past the edge of the lifter unit. Any adjustment past this point may cause damage, and any subsequent damage caused by said limit adjustment will void any warranty. 9
