Enterprise NMS 10.5 Quick Installation and Startup f Windows Enterprise NMS is a client/server netwk management system f Ntel enterprise data netwks. You install server software on one machine, and you can install client software on one me other machines. This quick reference guide provides abbreviated instructions f installing and getting started with Enterprise NMS 10.5 on Windows systems. It is assumed that you are familiar with installing applications on a Windows system. See the Installation guide (part number 321537-C) f me detailed installation infmation. Ntel recommends that you review the Release Notes (part number 205970-K) befe proceeding with the installation. Caution: Enterprise NMS installation suppts the English language set and English operating system only. Caution: If you are integrating Enterprise NMS with an umbrella management system such as HP OpenView IBM Tivoli NetView, review Chapter 3, Integrating Enterprise NMS with HP OpenView IBM Tivoli NetView, of the Installation guide (part number 321537-C) befe proceeding with the instructions in this chapter. Item Server requirement Client requirement * Notes on temp directy and system drive Suppted umbrella management platfms Oracle uses the temp directy as a tempary location f installation (f example, lib files required by java). By default, the temp directy f any version of Windows 2003is located at: %SystemDrive%\Documents and Settings\<user>\Local Settings\Temp\<Session Number> where: %SystemDrive% is the current drive letter of your operating system. By default Windows setup starts with drive letter "C:". If you have me disk devices on your machine me than one Windows operating system you may have another drive letter assigned as your %SystemDrive% <user> is the name of the current user that is logged onto the machine. On Windows 2003, the same user can open multiple sessions. These sessions are numbered (f example: C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Local Settings\Temp\3). To identify your current Temp Directy: 1. Open a command prompt window. 2. Type: echo %tmp% set tmp To identify your current System Drive: 1. Open a command prompt window. 2. Type: echo %systemdrive% set sys IBM Tivoli NetView 7.1.4 (with Fix Pack 4) HP OpenView Netwk Node Manager 7.5 SE (Starter Edition) F details, refer to the Installation guide (part number 321537-C). Item Server requirement Client requirement Web browser issues Internet Expler (IE): IE 6 (the IE version provided with Windows 2003 Server) does not suppt IPv6 addresses. In particular: Internet Expler 6 does not connect when literal IPv6 addresses are used in the URL Internet Expler 6 cannot browse IPv6 Web sites by using a proxy server if the proxy server is not IPv6-enabled F details, please refer to the Microsoft TechNet infmation at: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/windowsserver2003/library/iis/ 1ecff3af-36c2-41b5-957a-8bcc6fac8abc.mspx Internet Expler (IE) and Enterprise NMS On-line Help: There is a known operational problem that requires that Microsoft Internet Expler 6.0 be installed on your system. If Internet Expler 6.0 is not installed on your system, Enterprise NMS 10.5 online Help does not open. You do not have to use Internet Expler as your browser. After you install Internet Expler, manually launch your preferred browser. After doing so, the Enterprise NMS 10.5 online Help opens. Windows users All Enterprise NMS users must be members of the Windows Administrats group. License key Evaluation software If you are installing evaluation software, you only need a license key if you plan on using Enterprise NMS 10.5 after the 60-day evaluation period. To obtain a license key, contact your local Ntel sales office, supplier, distribut. Licensed software If you install licensed software, if you are upgrading from ENMS 10.5 - Campus Edition to ENMS 10.5 - Enterprise Edition, you need to have the license key available. Your license key is available on your Enterprise NMS 10.5 license key document. Language Your Windows language setting must be English (United States) in der to install Enterprise NMS. To set the language setting, choose Start > Settings > Control Panel > Regional Settings. If you have installed Oracle under a different language, you must remove and reinstall Oracle with the language set to English (United States). Windows SNMP trap service When you install Enterprise NMS 10.5 server on a standalone Windows system, you must stop the Windows SNMP trap service and set it to manual start. Thereafter, do not start the Windows SNMP trap service. Pathnames Warning: The space character is not allowed in the pathnames to Enterprise NMS directies, including the Oracle database. The undersce character is allowed. HP OpenView and IBM Tivoli NetView If you are integrating Enterprise NMS with HP OpenView IBM Tivoli NetView, refer to the Installation guide (part number 321537-C) f a list of the patches that must be installed befe proceeding with the remaining instructions in this guide. 4

IPv6 implementation If you are implementing IPv6, refer to the Installation guide (part number 321537-C) f instructions on enabling IPv6. Obtain the Enterprise NMS software and license key Enterprise NMS software can be downloaded from the Internet dered as a DVD/CD set. A Secure Access Module (SAM) user ID and passwd is required f either option. To der the DVD/CD set, you must be the Customer Suppt Contract prime as designated on your suppt contract with Ntel. To download the files der the DVD/CD set: 1 Start a web browser. 2 Go to http://www.ntel.com/ > Suppt & Training menu > Technical Suppt item > Software Downloads item > Browse product suppt tab > Products A-Z tab > E > Enterprise Netwk Management System entry > Software link. 3 If you are downloading the files, select and download all Windows files. Also download the Associated Documentation listed at the bottom of the page. If you are dering the DVD/CD set, select the Windows set, click the Order DVD button, and complete and submit the der fm. Orders are shipped within three business days. 4 Follow the instructions in the Release Notes (part number 205970-K) file to extract and concatenate the files. These instructions are included in print fm in the DVD/CD kit. 5 F details on the directy structures of the download and DVD/CD file sets, refer to the Installation guide (part number 321537-C). The license key is provided to your Customer Suppt Contract prime. Determine the installation start point Enterprise NMS version currently installed Installing the Enterprise NMS Server/Client software Installing the Enterprise NMS Client-only software None Go to Install the Oracle database software (server only) on page 9. 10.4 To preserve your Enterprise NMS 10.4 database, go to Migrate an Enterprise NMS 10.4.x 10.4.1.x database to Enterprise NMS 10.5 fmat on page 6. If you don t need to preserve your Enterprise NMS 10.4 database, go to Remove Enterprise NMS 10.4 earlier releases on page 8. 10.4.x 10.4.1.x (where x represents a positive integer) To preserve your Enterprise NMS 10.4.x database, go to Migrate an Enterprise NMS 10.4.x 10.4.1.x database to Enterprise NMS 10.5 fmat on page 6. If you don t need to preserve your Enterprise NMS 10.4.x database, go to Remove Enterprise NMS 10.4.1, 10.4.1.x, 10.4.2 maintenance releases on page 7. 10.3 pri Go to Remove Enterprise NMS 10.4 earlier releases on page 8. Go to Install the Enterprise NMS 10.5 client server/client software on page 11. Go to Remove Enterprise NMS 10.4 earlier releases on page 8. Go to Remove Enterprise NMS 10.4.1, 10.4.1.x, 10.4.2 maintenance releases on page 7. Migrate an Enterprise NMS 10.4.x 10.4.1.x database to Enterprise NMS 10.5 fmat 1 Login as Administrat. 2 Refer to Installation executables on page 5 and navigate change to the directy where the dm.bat file is located. 3 Invoke the dm.bat file: dm The data migration (dm) script migrates customizations and, optionally, backs up the topology (smop) database and the end node (waldo) database. 4 If you want to back up the smop waldo database, enter Y when prompted. Note: Use only the dm script to migrate the data from Enterprise NMS 10.4.x to Enterprise NMS 10.5. The script perfms data conversions that are required f Enterprise NMS 10.5, in addition to backing up the databases. 5 The program prompts f a directy to which to back up the database. 6

The program backs up the database to the selected directy and converts the data to Enterprise NMS 10.5 fmat. Note: The space character is not allowed in the pathnames to Enterprise NMS directies. The undersce character is allowed. 6 After you have completed Enterprise NMS installation, use the Database Admin Tool the input_db_contents script to impt the smop and waldo databases. 7 If you have upgraded with maintenance release version 10.4.1, 10.4.1.x, 10.4.2, proceed to Remove Enterprise NMS 10.4.1, 10.4.1.x, 10.4.2 maintenance releases on page 7. If your software version is 10.4 earlier, proceed to Remove Enterprise NMS 10.4 earlier releases on page 8. Remove Enterprise NMS 10.4.1, 10.4.1.x, 10.4.2 maintenance releases To remove the Enterprise NMS 10.4.1, 10.4.1.x, 10.4.2 maintenance release software and revert to version 10.4: 1 Login in as Administrat. 2 Exit/Close all Enterprise NMS client applications (examples: InfoCenter, Fault Summary, Expanded View). 3 Stop all UMP daemons (integrated environment only). 4 Determine which maintenance release has been installed: Change to the directy %lnmshome% and look f subdirecties named p1041, p10411, p10412, p1042. If Then Only p1041 is present Only 10.4.1 maintenance release is installed. Both p10411 and p1041 are present Both the 10.4.1.1 and 10.4.1 maintenance releases are installed. p10412, p10411, p1041 are present Three maintenance releases are installed: 10.4.1.2, 10.4.1.1, and 10.4.1. Only p1042 is present Only the 10.4.2 maintenance release is installed. Both p1041 and p1042 are present Both the 10.4.1 and 10.4.2 maintenance releases are installed. p1041, p10411, and p1042 are present Three maintenance releases are installed: 10.4.1, 10.4.1.1, and 10.4.2. p1041, p10411, p10412, and p1042 are present Four maintenance releases are installed: 10.4.1, 10.4.1.1, 10.4.1.2, and 10.4.2. 5 Change directy (cd) to the subdirecty f the latest (numerically greatest) maintenance release. F example, if both %lnmshome%\p10411 and %lnmshome%\p1041 are present, cd to %lnmshome%\p10411. 6 Run the uninstall batch file f the latest maintenance release: uninstall<subdirecty>.bat 7

where <subdirecty>is the subdirecty name of the release to be uninstalled. F example: uninstallp10411.bat. The batch file removes the maintenance release software. 7 Repeat the preceding step until all maintenance releases have been removed. All releases must be removed, from latest to first. 8 Restart the UMP daemons (integrated environment only) if you are not going to remove Enterprise NMS 10.4 immediately. 9 Proceed to Remove Enterprise NMS 10.4 earlier releases on page 8. Remove Enterprise NMS 10.4 earlier releases Caution: During the removal of Enterprise NMS 10.4, you are prompted to back up the database. Backing up the database at this point generates an Enterprise NMS 10.4 fmat that is not compatible with Enterprise NMS 10.5. If you want to back up your database so that it can be used by Enterprise NMS 10.5, use Migrate an Enterprise NMS 10.4.x 10.4.1.x database to Enterprise NMS 10.5 fmat on page 6 befe removing the Enterprise NMS 10.4 software. To remove Enterprise NMS 10.4 and earlier software: 1 Login in as Administrat. 2 Exit/Close all Enterprise NMS client applications (examples: InfoCenter, Fault Summary, Expanded View). 3 Stop all UMP daemons (integrated environment only). 4 From the desktop: Open the Add Remove Control Panel, select Enterprise NMS 10.4, and then click the button that removes the program. Uninstallation of Enterprise NMS 10.4 proceeds. From a command window: Change directy (cd) to %lnmshome%\install folder and type: install u. Uninstallation of Enterprise NMS 10.4 proceeds. 5 If prompted, choose to remove all Enterprise NMS components. 6 Restart the UMP daemons (integrated environment only). 7 If you are installing Enterprise NMS 10.5 on a system that is to be an Enterprise NMS server, proceed to Install the Oracle database software (server only) on page 9. If you are installing Enterprise NMS 10.5 on a system that is to be an Enterprise NMS client, proceed to Install the Enterprise NMS 10.5 client server/client software on page 11. 8

Install the Oracle database software (server only) To install an Enterprise NMS 10.5 server, Oracle 9.2.0.1 must be installed on the server, and then upgraded with the Oracle 9.2.0.8 patch. The Enterprise NMS 10.5 software is installed on the server after the Oracle database software is installed. If Then No Oracle database software is installed, Go to Install Oracle 9.2.0.1 database software on page 9. Then go to Install the Oracle 9.2.0.8 patch on page 10. You are upgrading from Optivity NMS 10.3 Go to Install the Oracle 9.2.0.8 patch on page 10. Enterprise NMS 10.4 and Oracle 9.2.0.1 Oracle 9.2.0.1 plus the 9.2.0.5 patch are installed, Oracle 9.2.0.1 is installed, a patch to Oracle 9.2.0.1 has been installed, but not by an Enterprise NMS/Optivity NMS installation process, You have a version of Oracle other than 9i installed, if the Oracle 9.2.0.1 9.2.0.8 installation processes did not complete properly, You are installing a client only, Refer to the Installation guide (part number 321537-C) Refer to the Installation guide (part number 321537-C) You do not need to install the Oracle database software. Proceed to the section Install the Enterprise NMS 10.5 client server/client software on page 11. Install Oracle 9.2.0.1 database software 1 Log in to Windows with Administrat privileges, and verify that all programs are closed. 2 Set the %SystemRoot%\system32 variable in your environment path. 3 Refer to Installation executables on page 5 and navigate change to the directy where the installacle.exe file is located. 4 From the desktop command line, invoke: installacle.exe. The Enterprise NMS 10.5 Database Installer program starts by checking your system f previous versions of Oracle. The program only checks f versions of Oracle installed by Enterprise NMS 10.5, Enterprise NMS 10.4, Optivity NMS 10.3. 5 If Oracle 9.2.0.1, Oracle 9.2.0.1 plus the 9.2.0.5 patch, are detected, then installation of the Oracle 9.2.0.8 patch starts. Go to step 5 of Install the Oracle 9.2.0.8 patch on page 10. If no previous versions are detected, then installation of the Oracle 9.2.0.1 database software continues. The Oracle 9.2.0.1 Database Installer window opens. 6 Click OK. 9

7 Click Next to navigate through the installation program. Respond to the program prompts about your system and configuration as you proceed. Note: When the program prompts you f the destination directy f the Oracle database software, Ntel recommends that you use the default location of %system drive%\acle\a92. If the folder does not exist, the installation program offers to create it f you. The InstallShield alert box opens, indicating that system requirements have been checked. This verifies that all environments are set appropriately f the Oracle 9.2.0.1 install. 8 Click OK and continue. After a sht pause, the Oracle Universal Installer window opens and installation proceeds. Java 1.3.1_01 version is also installed during this process. The location of the install log session is provided. When installation is finished, the End of Installation window opens. 9 Click Yes when the confirmation dialog box opens. 10 Proceed to Install the Oracle 9.2.0.8 patch on page 10. Install the Oracle 9.2.0.8 patch 1 Log in to Windows with Administrat privileges, and verify that all programs are closed. 2 Set the %SystemRoot%\system32 variable in your environment path. 3 Refer to Installation executables on page 5 and navigate change to the directy where the installacle.exe file is located. Note: Oracle 9.2.0.8 installation fails if the %SystemRoot%\system32 variable is not set in your environment path. 4 From the desktop command line, invoke: installacle.exe. The Enterprise NMS 10.5 Database Installer program starts by checking your system f previous version of Oracle. The program only checks f versions of Oracle installed by Enterprise NMS 10.5, Enterprise NMS 10.4, Optivity NMS 10.3. The installer program stops all Oracle services befe starting the installation. 5 When Oracle 9.2.0.1, Oracle 9.2.0.1 plus the 9.2.0.5 patch, are detected installation of the Oracle 9.2.0.8 patch proceeds. The Oracle 9.2.0.8 Database Installer window opens. 6 Click OK. After a sht pause, installation proceeds. Java 1.4.2_04 version is also installed during this process. A message is displayed when installation has finished. 7 Press Enter to exit the installation process. 8 Proceed to Install the Enterprise NMS 10.5 client server/client software on page 11. Install the Enterprise NMS 10.5 client server/client software 1 Log in to Windows with Administrat privileges, and ensure that all programs are closed. 2 Refer to Installation executables on page 5 and navigate change to the directy where the installenms.bat file is located. 3 Execute: installenms.bat -c 4 Click Accept to accept the software license agreement and continue. 5 Respond to the installation program prompts f infmation about Enterprise NMS components you want to install, and where you want to install them. Enterprise NMS services start automatically at the end of installation. The services take between three and five minutes to start. 6 If you are installing Enterprise NMS on a system that will be an Enterprise NMS server, proceed to Enter your Enterprise NMS software license key (server only) on page 11. If you are installing Enterprise NMS on a system that will be an Enterprise NMS client, you have completed the installation. Enter your Enterprise NMS software license key (server only) 1 Open a Command Prompt window. 2 Stop all Enterprise NMS services: enms_apps stop 3 Verify that all Enterprise NMS services are stopped: optstatus -f 4 Use the Task Manager > Process window to kill any processes that are still running. 5 From the Windows task bar, choose Start > Programs > Windows Expler. 6 Navigate to the %lnmshome%\registration\weboptsrvr\ directy. 7 Open the license.dat file in a text edit, f example Notepad. 8 Type your license key number in the file. The license key number is printed on a document that is included in your Enterprise NMS 10.5 software kit. 9 In the text edit, choose File > Save. 10 Ensure that the updated file name is license.dat. Some text edits append.txt to every file edited. Ensure that you are not saving the file as license.dat.txt. 11 Open the Services dialog box, and verify that the service named OracleServicenmsdb is started. Start the service if it is not started. See the Administration guide (part number 205969-K) f me infmation. 12 Close the Services dialog box. 13 From a Command Prompt window, start all Enterprise NMS services: 11

enms_apps start 14 Verify that all Enterprise NMS services are started: optstatus -fe Install the Java plug-in (f web access) If you are connecting to Enterprise NMS through a web browser, a Java browser plug-in is required. Refer to the Installation guide (part number 321537-C) f instructions. Begin using Enterprise NMS After completing the applicable installation procedures, you have installed the Enterprise NMS server client software. Now you are ready to start using InfoCenter. The following sections describe how to get started using InfoCenter and other Enterprise NMS applications to discover, view, and manage your netwk. Start InfoCenter InfoCenter is the command center f Enterprise NMS. To start InfoCenter: 1 Open a terminal window and at the command line, enter infocenter 2 In the Connect to Enterprise NMS Server dialog box, type a valid user name, passwd, and the server host name IP address to which you want to connect. The Enterprise NMS InfoCenter window opens. Start Community Strings Edit and add community strings entries You use the Enterprise NMS Community Strings Edit to manage SNMP community strings, SNMPv3 infmation, Telnet, and SSL settings when Enterprise NMS is installed standalone. However, when integrated with an umbrella management platfm such as HP OpenView Netwk Node Manager Tivoli NetView, Enterprise NMS uses the community strings of the platfm software, and the Telnet, SSL, and SNMPv3 settings entered in the Enterprise NMS Community Strings Edit. 1 From the InfoCenter menu bar, choose Admin > Community Strings. The Community Strings Edit window opens. 2 Use the Community Strings Edit to create community strings entries as appropriate f your netwk devices. Some typical requirements are: F IP telephony devices and components, create community string and Telnet entries F MCS 5100 devices, create community string, SSL, and Telnet entries F Ntel Ethernet Switches, create community string and Telnet entries (to use protocol visualization features) F SNMPv3 devices, create Enterprise user entries and enter authentication infmation and optionally private protocol infmation. Start AutoTopology Manager and discover your netwk resources 1 From the InfoCenter menu bar, choose Admin > AutoTopology Manager. The AutoTopology Manager window opens. 2 From the AutoTopology Manager menu bar, choose Discovery > Enter Seed Specification. The Seed Infmation dialog box opens. 12

3 Create a discovery seed. Type the following: Discovery seed name; IP address of the router from which to start the topology discovery process; IP address range. Click Apply. Click Close. 4 Set discovery options: From the AutoTopology Manager menu bar, choose Setting > Options. Select Netwk layer options f device discovery, and Protocol Discovery options f specific features. 5 Start Discovery: From the AutoTopology Manager menu bar, choose Discovery > Start Discovery. 6 In the InfoCenter Contents pane, open your resource folders to view your discovered netwk resources.
