Course Overview People tend to react to conflict in different ways and at times, individuals may feel that they failed to handle conflict in the right manner by saying or doing the right thing. This course is aimed at enabling the attendees learn how to handle conflict at the place of work in a professional manner, using the appropriate language and behaviour in order to maintain healthy working relationships. Course Content When working with other people, often, a degree of conflict is inevitable. Rather than avoiding it, the skill is to learn how to manage conflict in a way that the situation is transformed into an opportunity to build stronger working relationships. The seminar will look into how to identify conflict, defuse it and deal effectively with individuals in such situations. The attendees will have the opportunity to reflect and evaluate their own behaviour and reactions, when faced with certain situations. They will also learn about various techniques that can be used to manage conflict assertively and intelligently. Course Objectives and Learning Outcomes To understand how one s behaviour may potentially lead to conflict with others at the place of work, To analyse ways of managing conflict and its implications, To evaluate one s style in dealing with conflict with other people and how personal style may lead them to conflict with others, To identify different ways how conflict is initiated and grows, To discuss various scenarios and compare different approaches towards conflict and their outcomes, To become familiar with different approaches towards conflict and the various implications of each approach, To learn how to deal with conflict assertively through knowing important principles of conflict management, To practice the DESC model of conflict resolution. Who Should Attend? The course is aimed for all those who are interested in learning more about the subject of conflict management at the workplace and want to learn the skill of building and maintaining a good rapport with others at the workplace. CPE Accreditation The event will be accredited with structured CPE hours qualifying for the attainment of Professional Development Competencies in terms of the Accountancy Board s CPE Scheme and Accreditation Rules. About the Trainer Joe Gerada is currently a freelance Management Consultant and CIPD trainer for organisations in Malta and abroad. He held CEO positions in a number of State organizations including the ETC, APPOGG and Sedqa as well as senior positions in the private sector namely; CEO of the FHRD and was also the Group HR Manager for the Island Hotels Group. He is a former President of the Social Cohesion Committee of the Council of Europe and consulted for the Committee of the Regions of the European Commission. Trained in Management at Cranfield University UK and the School of Management at the University of Singapore, he also holds a Masters degree in Mediation from the Institute Universitaire Kurt Bosh Switzerland. Joe Gerada is a Fellow member of the Chartered Institute for Personnel Development UK and an accredited Management Trainer from CIPD. Terms and Conditions Bookings can be accepted at any time up to the course start date, subject to availability. Payment must be received from the Customer in order to reserve a place. Bookings are only confirmed once the Customer has received an email notification stating the confirmation from CSB Group. Cancellation fees are 50% if cancelled up to 7 days before start of course and 100% if cancelled less than 7 days before.
