People that settled in the Mid-Atlantic colonies came from several different countries. 6. They came from many different cultures and religions. 7. The Appalachian Mountains extended south into North Georgia, the hilly Piedmont region and the Atlantic Coastal Plains were also important features in this area.. 3. Describe the climate of this region. The climate was warm, humid and great for farming. 4. What was the most important economic opportunity in the south? Agriculture was the most important economic opportunity. 8. Large plantation owners had indentured servants and slaves who did most of the work for them. 9. What are indentured servants? Indentured servants were people who agreed to work for a period of time to repay a debt to large land owners who paid for their passage to the new world. 10.
