Care of your Product Converting to Twin eds Welcome You need: 4x Wooden Caps 4x Screws (35mm) an llen Key and a Screwdriver. Thank you for buying the Charterhouse unk ed. efore beginning assembly, please take a few quiet minutes to read these instructions. Lay the parts out on a clean, soft, flat surface (such as a carpeted floor) and compare with the parts check list on the next page. Do not throw away any packaging until you are sure that you have all the parts. If, for any reason, you wish to return the product, you must disassemble the components and use the original packaging. The product must be assembled by an adult. There are small parts: keep small children clear of the assembly area. Some stages of assembly require more than one person. NOTE: This stage of assembly will require at least two people. PLESE DO NOT TTEMPT THIS ON YOUR OWN. ) Remove the Guards and Ladder. ) Remove the (35mm) Screws locking the Top unk to the Lower. WITH THE ID OF NOTHER PERSON, lower the Top unk to the ground. Remove the Wooden Dowels. C) Remove one end from each unk, you should not need to remove all of the Mattress Slats. D) ttach 1 Larger (Lower unk) Headboard to 1 end of what was previously the Upper bunk, and attach 1 Smaller (Upper unk) Footboard to what was previously the Lower unk. E) Fit 4x Wooden Caps into the holes in the top of the Headboard legs (as below). and re-use the 4x Screws (35mm) to secure the caps in place. Please Note: The large end can be flipped around so that the groove detail faces inwards. FINLLY: Please now recheck that all fittings are properly tightened. This product is designed to conform to S EN 747: 2012 The thickness of the mattress should not exceed 21cm. Maximum Mattress size for the Upper unk: 191cm x 90cm x 22cm (6 3 x 3 0 x 8 ) Product Care Ÿ Clean your unk by wiping with a damp cloth & drying with a soft cloth. Never clean with abrasives, chemical cleaner or household polishes. Ÿ Take care when handling or moving the furniture. Careless handling can damage wooden furniture, Try to lift rather than drag. Product Safety Ÿ Periodically check that all assembly fixings are tightened properly, care should be taken to ensure that no fittings are loose. Ÿ The furniture must be set up on an even and stable surface. Ÿ Keep away from direct sources of heat, such as electric, gas or coal fires. Ÿ Do not allow children to climb on the furniture. Using this furniture other than for its intended purpose could cause damage to the structure or serious injury to your child. Ÿ The unk should not be used if any structural part is broken or missing Ÿ The upper unk is not suitable for children under six years old due to the risk of falls Ÿ Do not attach items such as ropes, strings, cords, harnesses or belts etc to avoid the risk of strangulation. Ÿ Warning: Children can become trapped between the bed and the wall. To avoid the risk of serious injury the distance between the top safety barrier and the wall must not exceed 75mm or be more than 230mm. Parts Check List 9. ttach the Ladder (not to scale) CR You need: 2x ladder Hooks, 4x olts (20mm), 2x Screws (16mm) 2 felt strips and a Screwdriver 1x Front Guard 1x Ladder 1x Rear Guard (Top edge view) 2x Mattress ases 1x Upper Mattress Rail (Ladder Right) - pair of holes will be found near the top of each Ladder upright. ttach the Ladder Hooks as shown, screwing the 4x olts for Ladder (20mm) into the pre-fitted inserts. Tighten fully. now fit the self adhesive felt to the inside of the two ladder hooks (offers protection to painted surfaces) - Hook the Ladder Hooks over the Front Mattress Rail between the Safety Rail Stile and the bedpost. Make sure the Ladder is even on the floor and Rail. Secure the Ladder to the Front Mattress Rail using the 2x Screws (16mm) through the hooks and into the pre-drilled pilot holes as shown. 7. Fit the Mattress ases. You need: 68x Screws (25mm) and a Screwdriver. Lower the Mattress ases onto the top of the Support Rails for both unks (webbing that links the slats together facing down). Spread the Slats out evenly on the Mattress Support Rails and ensure that the end slats are fitted over the fixed wooden blocks. Use 34x Screws (25mm) to fix all Slats for the Upper unk, screws should be fitted through the pilots holes in each slat. Some initial pressure will be required for Screws to bite into the mattress support rails below. Use the remaining 34x Screws (25mm) to secure all slats for the Lower unk as shown below. Please Note: For safety reasons the Upper unk Mattress ase must have every Slat screwed down. ssembly 1. ttach the Lower Mattress Rails to the Lower unk Ends. You need: 8x olts (110mm), 8x arrel Nuts, an llen key (and possibly a Screwdriver). ttach the Lower Mattress Rails to the larger Lower unk (Head) Ends by inserting 8x olts (110mm) through the holes in the Ends and into the holes in the ends of the Mattress Rails. Insert the 8x arrel Nuts into the holes on the inside faces of the Rails. e certain that you have selected the correct Rails as the Lower and Upper Rails are similar but different. Secure the Rails to the Ends by correctly engaging and tightening the olts into the arrel Nuts (shown in more detail below ). Ensure the mattress support rail is positioned closer to the bottom of the Rail as shown below (). Note: screwdriver can be used to help align the arrel Nuts correctly. Mattress support rail 8. Raise the unks. You need: 4x Large Wooden Dowels, 8x Screws (35mm) and a Screwdriver. NOTE: This stage of assembly will require at least two people. PLESE DO NOT TTEMPT THIS ON YOUR OWN. Fit the 4x Wooden Dowels into the large holes in the top of each leg of the Lower unk. Carefully lift the Upper unk onto the Lower unk, ensuring that the Dowels fit cleanly and simultaneously into the holes in the underside of the Upper unk feet. Use the 8x Screws (35mm) to lock one bunk to the other as shown below. 2. ttach the Upper Mattress Rails to the Upper unk Ends. You need: 8x olts (110mm), 8x arrel Nuts, an llen key (and possibly a Screwdriver). Note: t this stage you must decide at which End you require the Ladder. Please see the orientation options page at the front of this instruction to help you decide. This instructions shows the ladder positioned on the Right (orientation option ) ttach the Upper Mattress Rails to the smaller Upper unk Ends Using the same assembly method as step 1. s before, ensure the mattress support rail is positioned closer to the bottom of the Rail. lso Note: the 2x inserts in the top edge of each Rail (X). Note: Do Not fully tighten the bolts until the entire bed is constructed. This will make it easier to fit the guard rails. X X 7 5 4
3. ttach the Mattress Rail Stile. 5. ttach the Front Guard (continued). You need: 2x olts (35mm) and an llen Key. You need: 2x olts (35mm) 2x Sleeve Nuts, 2x olts (80mm) and 2x llen Keys. Fit the Mattress Rail Stile to the Upper Mattress Rail using 2x olts (35mm). If the Ladder is required on the right, the Mattress Rail Stile must be attached using the right hand pair of holes on the appropriate Mattress Rail as shown below (Option ). If the Ladder is required on the left (Option ), use the left hand pair of holes on the opposite rail. ttach one end of the Front Guard to the back of the Mattress Rail Stile using 2x olts (35mm) and 2x Sleeve Nuts. Use 2x llen keys to tighten these fittings (). Ensure the Sleeve Nuts and olts are orientated as shown below. ttach the Other end of the Guard to the Upper unk End using 2x olts (80mm)(). Option Option 6. ttach the Rear Guard. 4. ttach the Front Guard. You need: 6x olts (80mm) and an llen Key. You need: 2x olts (80mm) and an llen Key. ttach the Front Guard to the Upper Front Mattress Rail by inserting 2x olts (80mm) through the holes in the lower cross rail of the guard and into the holes in the top edge of the mattress rail as shown. 5 ttach the Rear Guard using 6x olts (80mm). Use 2x olts to secure each end of the guard to the bed ends () and 2x olts to secure the guard into the holes in the top edge of the mattress rail as shown (). Continued on the next page 6
