1.0 Sage Intelligence Report Designer Add-In 1.1 Introduction This document serves the purpose of guiding the user on installing their Sage 300 ERP Intelligence Report Designer Add-In and where necessary, instructions of how to install the prerequisite Sage 300 ERP Intelligence Report Designer required for Sage 300 ERP versions 5.6 and 6.0. 1.2 Purpose The new Report Designer Add-In is an addition to the Report Designer module, which presents an alternative to the current report Layout Generator (Fig 1. below) to empower users to take control of all design aspects of their reporting layouts. The Report Designer Add-In allows users to break down a report into reusable pieces and then control where and how these pieces fit together to create a report. These pieces are Excel functions which communicate with a new in-memory processing engine which will guarantee performance by being able to crunch financial numbers very quickly. While the Report Designer Add-In is installed, it enhances the Report Designer module. Fig 1. The current Report Layout Generator Fig 2. 1.3 Positioning As you can see from the diagram above the Layout Generator and Report Designer Add-In are separate functionalities within the Report Designer module. As such users do not need to license these separately but rather only need to license the Report Designer and will then get access to both methods of creating financial reports. NOTE: A Report Designer license is required for each workstation where the functionality will be utilized. For Network setups these licenses are added on the server and are consumed by the relevant workstations. 1.4 Sage 300 ERP Configuration You can configure Sage 300 ERP in a number of ways. The best configuration for your company depends on the number of users who need to use Sage 300 ERP programs and data concurrently, your chosen database engine, and your network setup. Sage Intelligence can be setup to operate in any of these configuration types. Each network configuration contains the following components: Server the computer that hosts the Sage 300 ERP data, and Sage 300 ERP Intelligence. Workstation A computer that connects to a server to access Sage 300 ERP programs and/or data. A workstation may: o o o Run the Sage 300 ERP desktop. Connect to Sage 300 ERP via an Internet browser. Run Sage Intelligence Report Designer functionality. Database Engine the software used to create, retrieve, update, and delete data from a database. Sage 300 ERP and Sage 300 ERP Intelligence works with the following database engines: o o o Pervasive. SQL. Microsoft SQL Server. Note that the Sage Intelligence Report Designer Add-In requires Microsoft SQL 2008 as a minimum requirement. For users who run Microsoft SQL 2005 a new Report Designer Add-In report will be posted on the Free Report Templates Group on the B.I. Community which can be downloaded and imported into your Sage Intelligence Report Manager. NOTE: For network setups the Sage 300 ERP Intelligence Report Designer and the Report Designer Add-In must be installed on the server as well as every workstation that has a Report Manager or Report Viewer license. Within Sage 300 ERP Intelligence the Report Designer license is applied at a site level; once it is applied on the server it will be indicated as YES within the License Manager (as right). The License Manager allows you to see which users and workstations are consuming Report Manager and Report Viewer licenses. Workstations listed in the Assigned Licenses list are workstations that should have the Report Designer and Report Designer Add-In installed on it to allow users the full reporting power of Sage Intelligence. 2.0 Intelligence Designer install instructions This section of the document describes the process of installing the Sage 300 ERP Intelligence Designer for Sage 300 ERP versions 5.6 and 6.0. This install is a prerequisite for the use of the Report Designer Add-In. Note that for Sage 300 ERP 2012 you do not need to install Sage 300 ERP Intelligence Designer as it is integrated into your Sage 300 ERP 2012 install; click here to skip forward to the Sage Intelligence Report Designer Add-In install instructions. Please ensure that you have followed the Sage 300 ERP software install process as defined in the relevant Sage 300 ERP Installation Guide for your version of Sage 300 ERP, before attempting the Sage 300 ERP Intelligence Report Designer Add-In installation. WARNING: For a complete guide on installation of Sage 300 ERP please check the Sage 300 ERP Installation Guide in the Sage Customer Portal. 2.1 Sage 300 ERP Intelligence Report Designer For users utilizing Sage 300 ERP 5.6 or 6.0 the Sage 300 ERP Intelligence Report Designer must be downloaded and installed from the relevant Sage 300 ERP Product Downloads section, on the Sage Customer Portal or the Sage Partner Portal before the new Report Designer Add-In can be installed. 1. Download your Sage 300 ERP Intelligence Report Designer from one of the links below and note the download location. Sage 300 ERP 5.6 1. Customer link 2. Partner link Sage 300 ERP 6.0 1. 3. Click on OK to continue, you may also edit the install destination if necessary. 4. Once the download is complete launch the Installer manually if you did not to choose the Launch setup once download completes? option. 5. Click on Next. Sage 300 ERP Intelligence Reporting 7
NOTE: A prerequisite for this install is Microsoft.Net 3.5. If the installer detects that you do not have the necessary version it will attempt to install this before continuing to the Sage 300 ERP Intelligence Report Designer Add-In. 6. Click Install to continue. 7. Click Next to proceed with the InstallShield Wizard install. 8. Once you have read the license agreement click on the radio button to Accept the terms and conditions. 9. Click on Next to continue. 10. Click Next again to continue the install. Sage 300 ERP Intelligence Reporting 8
11. As part of the install of the Sage Intelligence update you will be required to update the Sage Intelligence License Manager capabilities which are required within Sage 300 ERP Intelligence. When prompted click on Next to continue. 12. The installer does a check to make sure the new required folder is present, and if not will create it. 13. Click OK to create the required folder. 14. The InstallShield Wizard Completed window will pop-up allowing you to click on Finish to complete the install process. NOTE: The window will not be closed until the VSTOR 3.0 install has completed. 2.2 Validate that your install was successful. 1. After completing the installation verify that the Sage Intelligence Report Designer is installed and licensed by loading the Sage Intelligence License Manager from the Sage Accpac ERP Desktop. The Designer Licensed field should be marked YES. 2. The Designer folder should also be created in Report Manager with the Financial Reports Designer 2-1 (AE-SQL) report in the folder. 3. Within Excel, a new Ribbon will be available to users to access the Report Designer Layout Generator functionality. 4. 3.0 Report Designer Add-In download This section of the document describes the process of installing the Sage 300 ERP Intelligence Report Designer Add-In for Sage 300 ERP versions 5.6, 6.0 and 2012. 1. Navigate to the Sage Customer Portal or the Sage Partner Portal. 2. Login using your Sage Portal ID / email and Password. 3. Depending on which version of Sage 300 ERP you are running you will need to select one of the links below to access the Report Designer Add-In for download. Sage Accpac ERP 5.6 1. Customer link 2. 4.0 Installing the Report Designer Add-In 1. To install the Report Designer Add-In, double-click the installation file. The InstallShield wizard will begin. 2. Click Next. 3. Click to accept the license agreement. 4. Click Next. Sage 300 ERP Intelligence Reporting 13
5. Click Install. The installation may take a few minutes. 6. Once complete, click Finish. Sage 300 ERP Intelligence Reporting 14
4.2 Validate that your install was successful The Report Designer Add-In and Report Designer Add-In Consolidation folders must be present within the Report Manager, with reports in them. The BIExcelFunctions1.1 folder should appear in C:\Program Files\Common Files. The right hand Task Pane should be visible. Add-Ins tab is available in the ribbon. Report Designer Add-In drop-down is clickable. Excel Options > Add-Ins > Excel Add-Ins has Report Designer Add-In 1.1.0 available. Excel Options > Add-Ins > COM Add-Ins has Report Designer Add-In 1.1.0 (Custom Task Pane Helper) checked. Sage 300 ERP Intelligence Reporting 16
If Report Designer Add-In is installed and the Task Pane does not display there are 3 options to rectify this: 1. Uninstall and reinstall the Report Designer Add-In. 2. Ensure that Excel Options > Add-Ins > Excel Add-Ins has Report Designer Add-In 1.1.0 is checked. Ensure that Excel Options > Add-Ins > COM Add-Ins has Report Designer Add-In 1.1.0 (Custom Task Pane Helper) and that it is checked. 3. Click Browse in the Excel Add-Ins form and browse to C:\Program Files\Common Files\BIExcelFunctions1.1\32bit. Click Sage.BIExcelFunctions1.1 and click OK. NOTE: The Solver Add-In must be unchecked/disabled in order for the Report Designer Add-In to function. Sage 300 ERP Intelligence Reporting 17
5.0 Terminal Services / Citrix installs The Report Designer Add-In, by default, is only made available for the Windows user who installs it. If you need to make the Report Designer Add-In available for multiple users on the same installation of Windows (e.g. Terminal Services/Citrix), you can install on it on any user's account, however to make it available for other Window's users you will need to manually add the Excel Add-In from within Excel inside each user's Windows account. The following steps show the process to achieve this: 1. Ensure the Report Designer Add-In is installed on at least one user's Windows account. 2. Log into the Windows account you would like to enable the Report Designer Add-In on. 3. Open Microsoft Excel. 4. Navigate to the Excel Options > Add-Ins form, and then with Excel Add-Ins selection in the drop-down at the bottom of the form, select Go. Sage 300 ERP Intelligence Reporting 18
5. From there you can browse to the Add-In which is located here: C:\Program Files (x86)\common Files\BIExcelFunctions1.1\32bit\Sage.BI.ExcelFunctions1.1.xll 6. Select OK on each form thereafter to activate the Report Designer Add-In. Sage 300 ERP Intelligence Reporting 19
