IMMIGRATION

As of February 1, 2016, it is no longer necessary for foreign workers to obtain a work permit (LMIA) to work on a foreign funded TV commercial production in Canada. Anyone who is deemed to be integral to the production of the commercial is eligible to enter Canada to work on a production. The definition of integral is broad. It applies to director, producer, actors etc. The aim of the policy is to encourage foreign production. This applies to agency personnel as well. It is necessary for the person traveling to Canada for work to carry a letter from the foreign production company and a letter from the Canadian service company outlining a few basic details. Such as, the person s role, who is paying them etc. We can supply you with the letter to complete. NOTE: This does not apply to those who require a VISA to travel to Canada under any circumstances. You can see your specific circumstance by searching from the list in the link below. Exceptions include US citizens and foreign nationals with a valid visa. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/visas.asp
