General Çukurova Region is located in southern Turkey, along the eastern part of the Mediterranean coast. The region consists of two provinces, Adana and Mersin, and has an area of 29.558 km 2. The Taurus Mountains and the Çukurova plain constitute the two main geographical features. Two types of climates prevail in the region: continental climate in the highlands and Mediterranean climate in the southern plain.

The region s foreign trade volume has been regularly increasing from 2004 to 2008.After the year of 2009, the region s trade volume is estimated to increase in agriculture and industry. Çukurova Development Agency Çukurova Development Agency was established in 2006 as one of the first two regional development agencies of Turkey. The main purpose of the agency is fostering economic and social development in Çukurova Region. The main methods to be employed to this end are: preparation of regional strategies and plans, implementation of grant scheme programmes, supporting local investors in business licensing and permits, promoting the region for domestic and foreign investments.
