New, versatile Emergency Services Training Centre is built in Pori, Finland

Management of Dangerous Situations and Expertise in Emergency Services Wide range of uses Located in the immeadiate vicinity of the Pori Airport, this versatile Emergency Services Training Centre is built to enable basic and further training in rescue, security and crisis management. The area covers, for example, an industrial fire field, an aviation accident field, a dangerous goods training field, an industrial, ship and harbour accident field, a wrecked city, an animal rescue area, a crisis management village and a mock city. The true to life conditions in the Emergency Services Training Centre of Western Finland offer an allround place to practice operations in different kinds of accident situations. In addition to organisations in the Satakunta region, such as the Emergency Services, voluntary fire brigades, industry and educational institutions, the area offers services nationally and internationally. The area is used to practice extinction of different fires, prevention of environmental damages, diverse rescue and after treatment tasks, aviation accident situations, extinction of cabin fires, emergency driving and emergency care of people injured in accidents.

Unique range of opportunities for training AREA IS BUILT IN PHASES The construction of the Emergency Services Training Centre of Western Finland has begun and the first phase will be finished in the years 2011 2014. Already completed fields consist of the training hangar, traffic accident field, driving practice range, chemical accident field, and the smoke diving field. During 2013, fields to be built include the training simulator for elevated areas, animal rescue area, railroads and a crossing and the first part of the mock city. The area is built in phases so that the finished fields can be used right after their completion. FOUNDATION AS THE BACKBONE The Emergency Services Training Centre is managed under the foundation established by the City of Pori, the Emergency Services Training Centre Foundation of Western Finland. The board of the foundation has representatives from the City of Pori, Finavia, Emergency Services of Satakunta, Prizztech Oy and University Consortium of Pori. Emergency Services Training Centre of Western Finland offers a facility to practice rescue skills in realistic conditions simulating actual accident, rescue and environmental threat situations.
