Engineered Soltions BIS - Overview and basic package V4.0 BIS - Overview and basic package V4.0 www.boschsecrity.com Complete enterprise management for efficient, integrated bilding and secrity management in a single soltion Consistent se of world-wide open IT standards for configring, interfacing and displaying makes the system extremely ser and installer friendly Provides even better integration of Bosch and 3rd party systems throgh OPC compliance Easily links alarm information to ser-defined actionplans and location maps, for a faster and safer reaction from the operator Modlar strctre makes it easy to create a secrity soltion which best meets yor reqirements The bilding management system The Bilding Integration System (BIS) is a flexible bilding management system which can be configred to sit the ser's specific needs. It contains a hge range of applications and featres which enable both the integration and copling as well as the monitoring and control of all technical bilding systems. The new generation bilds on Bosch's many years of experience in management systems and was considerably inflenced by the following market trends: Increasing complexity of technical bilding eqipment The increasing complexity of technical eqipment inside bildings reqires a powerfl management system which combines the most varied fnctions (e.g. fire and intrsion alarm systems, access control, video systems and bilding atomation... etc.) in the best possible way. The OPC standard enables BIS to process and share information efficiently with a hge variety of hardware devices and other sorces. Using new technologies and standards While the strict reglations in the field of secrity technology ensre a high degree of reliability in secrity matters, they hinder the integrated se of new technologies from the IT world. BIS has scceeded in harnessing the benefits of non-secritybased technologies (e.g. OPC, CAD, web) and harmonizing them with the world of secrity technologies. Cstomers want complete soltions Facility managers and integrators are demanding a single bilding-management soltion that is nevertheless able to integrate all their secrity sbsystems. System overview The Bilding Integration System is a versatile prodct made p of a basic package pls varios optional components (also known as Engines) based on a common software platform. The engines can be combined to tailor bilding management systems to detailed reqirements. These main components are: Atomation Engine Access Engine Video Engine Secrity Engine
2 BIS - Overview and basic package V4.0 Organizational strctre and configration A nmber of atomatic fnctions and easy-to-se tools make configration installer-friendly, saving time and expense. Hierarchical location trees can be created by the import of existing CAD data containing layers, named views and detector locations. Zooming and panning allow rapid navigation throgh the bilding. The ser interface is web-server-based sing dynamic HTML pages. Defalt pages for different screen resoltions and formats are inclded in the installation software, and the defalt pages can easily be cstomized sing a standard HTML editor. BIS atomatically detects the monitor resoltion and provides the appropriate ser interface. * not available in all contries These engines are described in greater detail in separate datasheets. Fnctions Operation The system s main task is to operate as the alarmmonitoring and control center for the varios secrity systems within a site. Its graphical interface is designed to help the operator grasp the extent and rgency of an occrrence qickly, and to take prompt and effective action. System architectre The BIS Engines provide fire and intrsion detection, access control, video srveillance pls the monitoring of HVAC and other vital systems. BIS is based on a performance-optimized three-tier architectre especially designed for se in Intranet and Internet environments. Sbsystems are connected via the well-established, world-wide OPC standard. This open standard makes it easy to insert BIS into existing OPC-compliant sbsystems. 5.1 3.1 4.1 1 4.n 2.1 3.n 2.2 6.n 5.n The heart of the system, the State Machine, monitors all incoming events and operator reqests and, if desired, can take actions prescribed by ser-defined rles or Associations, ths nbrdening the operators. 1. Database server System secrity AES encryption between BIS central server and workstations provides additional secrity in addition to configrable ser-access rights. If PCs within a corporate network are to be sed as client workstations then enhanced secrity can be achieved by restricting operators to specific workstations or IPaddresses.
3 BIS - Overview and basic package V4.0 Basic package The Bilding Integration System basic package provides many featres sed in common by the varios Engines. Cstomizable device condition conters to provide an overview of the condition of sbsystems across the entire BIS system Message processing and alarm display Alarm qee with p to 5000 simltaneos alarm events and detailed alarm information Device overview for all connected sbsystems, and their peripherals (detectors) and internal virtal devices (operator, server,...) in the form of a tree strctre with detailed information abot address, stats, type, location and notes. Control the peripherals via the context mens of their tree nodes. Fixed assignment of operators to workstations for higher secrity State machine for atomated event and alarm handling. Web-server-based platform allows client workstations to connect to BIS via jst the Internet Explorer Direct spport for location maps in standard AtoCAD DWF vector format redces configration effort. Ability to compartmentalize the managed site into atonomos Divisions, and to restrict operators to the control of specific Divisions. Ability to provide specific information to the operator in the form of free-form miscellaneos hypertext docments, inclding text, bitmaps, video images, etc. Changes to architectre within a graphic (new walls, moving a door, etc.) can be implemented withot changing the BIS configration, simply import a new plot file. Atomated workflows between operators, with message broadcasting and cstomizable escalation paths Hge library of standardized detector icons in standard vector format inclding color, event and control definitions Direct control and monitoring of detectors via the context mens of their icons in the location maps Direct control and monitoring of detectors via the logical tree-strctre (e.g. bilding floor room) of a site, with hyperlinks to photos, manals, instrctions Location tree generated atomatically from the "named views" within the AtoCAD graphic Action management for atomatic and manal control into connected sbsystems and their peripherals Highly configrable operator access rights for monitoring and control of sbsystems and their peripherals Event log to ensre all events are completely docmented (inclding messages received and actions taken) Reporting services to qickly create reports from the event log Linking and embedding of OPC servers from any compter in the network Online Help Alarm docment package This package extends the standard alarm handling of yor BIS system with the capability of displaying action plans and location maps as well as the graphical navigation and the alarm-dependent visalization of layers inside those maps. This ensres optimal gidance to operators especially in stress sitations, sch as fire or intrsion alarms.
4 BIS - Overview and basic package V4.0 Alarm-dependent layer control allows the display of additional graphical information for specific sitations, e.g. escape rotes in case of fire alarms. BIS optional accessories The optional featres listed below can be added to the BIS system to meet specific cstomer reqirements. They are sable with all the BIS Engines (Atomation, Access, Video and Secrity Engine). Alarm-dependent action plans or workflows provide detailed event-dependent information sch as standard operating procedres, live images, control bttons, etc. to the operator. Simply create and assign one action plan to each possible alarm type in yor system, e.g. fire alarm, access denied, technical alarms, etc. With the deletion of an alarm message an nmodifiable snapshot of the displayed action plan is attached to the event log. This ensres accontability by providing a trace of all steps performed by the operator dring the alarm response. Alarm management package This package extends the standard alarm-handling of yor BIS system by some additional featres: Message distribtion allows the definition of escalation scenarios which are activated atomatically when an operator or operator grop fails to acknowledge an alarm message within a defined period. BIS will then forward the message atomatically to the next athorized operator grop. The timer featre allows the setp of time schedles which can be sed to perform atomatic control commands, sch as closing a barrier at 8:00 pm, as well as for time-dependent redirection of alarm messages, e.g. within time period 1 show message to operator grop 1 else to operator grop 2. Location maps are a visalization of premises e.g. floors, areas or rooms, based on the poplar AtoCAD vector-graphics format. Detectors and other devices are represented by colored, animated icons that provide direct control via their context mens. In the case of an alarm the system zooms atomatically to the location in the map where it was triggered. A location tree provides entry points to the location map and its graphical navigation fnctions (pan, zoom). The operator alarm featre allows an operator to trigger an alarm manally from the location tree, for example, if informed by telephone of a dangeros sitation. Sch manal alarms are processed in the same way as those triggered by a detector: that is, the associated docments are displayed and all steps taken are recorded in the event log. The application lancher allows the invocation of non- BIS applications by the system based pon predefined conditions, e.g. alarms or timers. A typical application of this wold be for an atomatic, schedled system backp.
