ShipAdvisor OPTIONS IN YOUR WEBSHOP
YOUR CUSTOMER KNOWS THE BEST DELIVERY ALTERNATIVE WE BUILD SHIPADVISOR INTO YOUR WEBSHOP ShipAdvisor gives your customer the option to choose a delivery type, that suits him. The delivery alternatives you want to offer is build into your webshop, usually in the check out process. Based on the shopping basket, postcode, weight and measurements ShipAdvisor calculates the relevant delivery alternatives and the associated freight price. The alternatives and freight prices will be displayed in the webshop, and your customer is now free to choose the alternative that suits his needs. ShipAdvisor is configured by EDI-Soft, but you can design and control the webshop implementation yourself, so that the webshop retain the look you want. ShipAdvisor gives your customer more options to customize the delivery, without affecting the shopping and payment experience. This is an example of a webshop that uses ShipAdvisor: www.qwt.no Watch ShipAdvisor movie: ShipAdvisor is a module shown in your webshop s check out process. ShipAdvisor shows which delivery alternatives your customer can choose between after he filled the shopping basket, but before he completes the payment. ShipAdvisor contributes that your customer doesn t cancel the purchase due to lack of delivery alternatives, but chooses the alternative that suits him and completes the purchase instead. ShipAdvisor can combine the delivery alternatives you get from your carriers with pick up/delivery from your own stores/trucks. ShipAdvisor shows exactly the alternatives you want to offer. 1 2 Private delivery Express (1 day): EUR 24,00 HOW TO GET STARTED WITH SHIPADVISOR WHEN DOES THE WEB DEVELOPER START HIS WORK? Eco package (3 days): EUR 10,00 Business delivery Morning delivery (1 day): EUR 12,00 Gate delivery (1 day): EUR 4,00 The job starts with an analysis meeting. In this meeting we want to understand your needs and show you what opportunities you have in order to make delivery in your webshop smarter. Who should attend? It is an advantage that people with business understanding takes part in this meeting, because it s all about what service level you want to offer your customer. In addition to this the internal webshop responsible should attend. If you have easy access to your webshop developer, it will be fine to have him on the sideline as well. When the requirements for ShipAdvisor is covered and the ideas are discussed, the web developer can start his work. This is the point where the project enters a more technical phase. The web developer gets a general picture of how ShipAdvisor looks and what options it must contain. An example could be giving all customers access to following alternatives - see illustration. If the web developer must develop the things himself, he can find the necessary information in our technical blog: http://blog.edi-soft.no Pick up at drop point Post box (1 day): Stores (same day): EUR 3,00 EUR 0,00 WEBSHOP OWNER EDI-SOFT WEB DEVELOPER If the web developer works with a standard webshop, which already contains an integrated ShipAdvisor module, this module must be activated/ ordered. EDI-Soft can give information about which web developers that deliver these standard modules. 6 7
3 WHO CONFIGURES THE INFORMATION THAT MUST BE DISPLAYED IN YOUR WEBSHOP? WHAT ABOUT THE DISPLAY OF PICK-UP-POINTS - HOW MUCH DO YOU HAVE TO DO? 4 EDI-Soft is responsible for configuring the options/alternatives you want to show in your webshop. After the analysis meeting we will have an overview of the delivery alternatives. When we receive your carrier customer number/numbers we collect price agreements etc. which is necessary for the setup. On this basis we will setup the view and freight price calculation. This will happen in a test environment. The delivery alternatives depend on what your customer has in his shopping basket and where he wants it delivered. You decide the different validation rules. If you work with pick-up-points it is a great service to show these in a map or in a closest-to-you list. The customer gets a visuel overview and can choose what suits him best. ShipAdvisor can display different carriers pick-up-points in one map or list. There is a lot of nice and user friendly methods to show these. It is up to you how you like it best. When the webshop asks ShipAdvisor, it will get some information in return, eg. geographical coordinates of the wanted pick-up-points. The webshop can use these coordinates to present the pick-up-points in Google Maps etc. ShipAdvisor also returns other information eg. pick-up-point address, opening hours etc. which can be shown when clicking each pick-up-point. ShipAdvisor also contains a method that gives you the nearest pick-up-point based on the customers address. See all methods and read more here: http://blog.edi-soft.no Note: to use Google Maps for displaying pick-up-points, you must generate an API-key. This is easily done here: http://developers.google.com 8 9
HOW IS SHIPADVISOR CONNECTED TO YOUR WEBSHOP? 5 6 HOW TO TEST IF SHIPADVISOR WORKS CORRECTLY? After EDI-Soft has done the necessary configurations, we are ready to connect the things to each other. The webshop gets access to a test environment on a specific address (URL). When the webshop asks ShipAdvisor for information about the customer (address, postcode, city) and information about the customers shopping basket (number of freight colli, weight etc.) ShipAdvisor will return information about which delivery alternatives the customer can choose between. The answer from ShipAdvisor is a string of information: product name, freight price, delivery time etc. It may be advantageous to group the alternatives into private delivery, business delivery and pick-up-points. This grouping is also build into ShipAdvisor s webservice. See illustation of the display under section 2. When the configuration of ShipAdvisor has finished, the testing can begin. To test if the configuration is as you want, you must put some items in the shopping basket and see what happens when you go to the check out phase where the delivery methods shows up. Example of test questions: Does the correct options show up when I want private delivery? Does the weight/volumen of the items in the basket affect the options that are displayed? Does the map show up when I choose pick-up-point? If you want to test the webservice answers, your web developer can use the test bank at: http://blog.edi-soft.no Does the calculated freight prices and delivery times match my agreements with the carrier? The testing may be done by employees or customers who haven t been involved in the developing/setup. 10 11
IF THE TEST IS OK, HOW SOON CAN YOU START USING SHIPADVISOR? 7 8 SHIPADVISOR IS RUNNING! - WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS FOR MY CUSTOMERS? If the test is OK, you can start using ShipAdvisor right away. EDI-Soft will change the test environment into a live production environment. EDI-Soft creates a new URL for the production environment with new passwords. Your web developer must then change a few things in the ShipAdvisor module in your webshop, in order for you to go live. If the test reveals needs for any changes in the configuration or in the techical implementation of ShipAdvisor, this has to be corrected before you go live. If you want changes in the configuration, EDI-Soft will fix this quickly. If you want changes concerning the look or the operation of the module, you must fix this with your web developer or supplier. If you make any changes we recommend that you do another test round. When ShipAdvisor is implemented in your webshop, you can offer your customers terrific service. They get an overview of all the alternatives and can choose the alternative that suits them best. Satisfied customers means more orders - and we look forward to follow your succes with ShipAdvisor. Several studies shows that the conversion rate in the webshop goes up when the customers are offered more choices. 12 13
