GEOSYSTEMS Polska Sp. z o.o. - profile of the company Przemysław Turos, GEOSYSTEMS Polska

Profile of the company For over 20 years the company is present on the Polish and international market of spatial information. Since the beginning its core business remains unchanged and concerns operational geographic imaging, geospatial data generation, applied geographic modelling understood as services and products delivery (i.e. for the biggest Polish telecoms, environmental and agricultural institutions). Company is a SME. Since 1995 we carried out several international and domestic R&D projects but we are mainly production and applications oriented in the scope of: Vector data production (incl. car navigation) Land cover/use mapping DTM & DEM generation Optical satellite data processing Microwave satellite data processing Data fusion (GIS)

AutoMapa basic facts The best maps The first car navigation application in Poland (2003) Traffic information supporting routing operation since 6 years Integrated with many command and control systems (firefighters, police, ambulances) Information on roads for truck drivers Support for CB radio users (linear road referencing) The most popular in Poland 800 000 users One of the strongest Polish brands The most frequently awarded car navigation system

Targeo basic facts The best maps Third the most popular map portal in Poland 4 000 000 unique visitors monthly Used by individuals and institutions Wide range of integration and customisation possible WMS ready INSPIRE directive compliant Solution complementary with AutoMapa Used by HEMS in Poland

Land Use & Land Cover Mapping 24 classes, 5 meters (raster and vector data)

Land Use & Land Cover Mapping Example application of LULC map and vector data: maps elaborated for Polish Geological Institute maps for monitoring of Polish Belarusian boarder in the scope of pollution transmission in underground water

Forestry and Climate Change Service Type: Kyoto Protocol Reporting Support forest carbon stock statistics End-Users: Ministry of Environment (ME) Department of Climate Change and Atmosphere Protection Ministry of Environment (ME) Department of Forestry General Directorate of Environmental Protection (official patronage) Service Area: Poland: 312 683 km 2 Data sources: European Space Agency U.S. Geological Survey General Derectoriate of State Forest, Poland Accuracy achieved: Comparing to official reference data on carbon stock in Polish forest results achieved using described methodology were over assessed by 8%.

Forestry and Climate Change Map products: coverage territory of Poland, resolution 25m: Satellite Orthomosaic 1988 Satellite Orthomosaic 2006 Forest Type Map 2006 Forest Area Map 1988 Forest Change Map 1988/2006

interpolation of continous layers Forestry and Climate Change In-situ and satellite info integration: Point data coding: volume/ha (in-situ measuremants) biomass/ha (biomass conversion and expansion factors - BCEF) carbon/ha (carbon fraction - CF) BCEF and CF accordingly to 2006 IPCC Guidelines for National Greenhouse Gas Inventories

Forestry and Climate Change Results national statistics for Kyoto Protocol related reporting: Forest area change Area (km 2 ) Balance (%) Deforestation (1988-2006) 2 690,9 2,95 % Re/Aforestation (1988-2006) 6 193,3 6,80 % Balance (1988-2006) 3 502,4 3,84 % Forest parameter GSE FM 2010 ROSL 2010 Error Steam volume (mln m 3 ) 2 285 2 300-0,81% Forest biomass (mln t) 2 083 - - Forest carbon stock (mln t) 1 044 968 7,8%

Crisis management and public safety System created as extension of command and control systems allowing for integration i.e. Copernicus Emergency Management Service products System stores, analyses and disseminates information on crisis and its consequences Repository of information on spatial range and impacts of crisis evens Integration of multisource data: satellite monitoring, aerial photographs, in-situ information, unstructured reports Potential consequences assessment (endangered population, forests steam volume, area ) Publication of spatially referenced alerts for citizens http://www.gecco.geohub.eu/

Crisis management and public safety Analysis of influence of floods on current traffic situation as an example of information from EO and GNSS satellite monitoring

Crisis management and public safety Sending details of localization of endangered building to mobile devices equipped with AutoMapa to coordinate rescue mission and evacuation.

Crisis management and public safety AutoMapa is a component of the major command and control systems used by Polish Police, firefighters and in ambulances (and Targeo is used by HEMS).
