Introducing GGS The Leuven Centre for Global Governance Studies (GGS) aims to make high-quality, innovative and policy-relevant contributions to the study of globalization, governance processes and multilateralism with a particular focus on the European Union s role in global governance. In 2010, the Centre has been recognized as a KU Leuven Centre of Excellence. The Centre also coordinates the Policy Research Centre of the Flemish Government on International Affairs, International Entrepreneurship and Development Co-operation. This brochure introduces GGS, its mission statement, management structure, members and distinguished International Advisory Board. It also provides a brief introduction to two of our regional focuses: the InBev-Baillet Latour EU-China Chair and the Leuven India Focus. As you read through this brochure we hope to give you a flavour of the many high-level conferences, lectures and seminars GGS organizes. GGS is a unique venture. Our Centre s bottom-up dynamics appeal to a great number of colleagues from within and outside the University: with more than 60 senior and junior members we now host researchers from law, economics, political science, history, philosophy and area studies. We have attracted numerous research projects at the Flemish, Belgian, European and international levels, and regularly conduct studies for governments, EU institutions and international organizations. Our output of international publications has been impressive and continues to grow. Our events attract ever more attention internationally. We work increasingly with academic and policy partners from all over the world, including the European Commission, European External Action Service, European Parliament, Committee of the Regions, UNIDO, UNCTAD and the World Bank. As from 2012 the Centre publishes the Leuven Global Governance Series, a series of monographs and edited volumes, with Edward Elgar Publishers. Should you have any question or suggestion, please do not hesitate to contact us.
