The VNS5100 Windows-based alert center server is capable of processing data from multiple sources and initiating user-generated or automated alerts to a wide range of wireless and non-wireless devices. The VNS2000 server software also provides a secured system administration, a userfriendly Windows based interface and an event archiving feature required for reporting purposes. The VNS5100 supports up to 1,000 pre-recorded voice messages that can be used for initiating audible messages to wireless and non-wireless devices such as wireless speakers, voice pagers and telephone subscribers. The messages can be initiated from the VNS2000 software, the optional VS5104 telephone interface or the automatic activation of a system device. Pre-Recorded Voice Messages In addition, the VNS5100 Server software includes a visual control panel that provides a visual presentation of system events and allows the user to add indicators to visualize the status of dry contact closure alarm points, 900MHz wireless push buttons or transmitters and UHF wireless push buttons. Visual Control Panel

The VNS5100 also supports prioritized alerts and allows assignment of a priority by the system device or by the source initiating the alert (such as the VNS2000 software, each telephone line, each serial port data, each dry contact closure alarm point, or each wireless 900MHz and UHF push buttons). Device Settings The VNS2000 client software (VS5143, used with VS5142) provides network access to the VNS5100 system from any network PC. The VNS2000 client users can initiate alerts from their PC and forward their emails to a wireless device such as a pager or alphanumeric display, or activate any of the VNS5100 system devices according to its default alert parameters. E-Mail Forwarding & User Information Client Software

The scheduled event feature allows the activation of any system device with its default alert parameters. The default alert parameters are programmed for each system device and allow the initiation of any of the alerts supported by the VNS5100 by executing a pre-programmed weekly schedule. The weekly schedule consists of 500 daily events for each weekday that can activate a respective system device with its default alert parameters. The VNS5100 can store multiple weekly schedules on its hard drive, allowing the user to easily change or set the active weekly schedule from the VNS5100 user interface. Event Settings Scheduled Events The VS5102 widearea interface option allows the VNS5100 to send alphanumeric messages to supported pager and cell phone subscribers of third party service providers. The message is sent to the service provider using TAP serial protocol over modem communication, allowing a nationwide coverage area. The VNS5100 supports alert initiation and alphanumeric messaging from any telephone by dialing any of the 4 lines provided by the VS5104 telephone interface (up to 16 lines can be installed). The telephone interface functions as an auto-attendant that answers the call and guides the user through the messaging process, allowing the user to access and activate all system devices with customized or pre-defined alerts. These alerts include numeric and alphanumeric messages, audible alerts stored in the memory of the VNS2200, pre-recorded or user recorded messages, activation of strobe lights and other controlled devices, messages to alphanumeric displays, or activation of any device supported by the VNS5100. Line Settings Details Line Settings

The VS5104 four telephone line interface option also includes 1,000 Alpha by Phone messages that allow the user to send alphanumeric messages using the telephone keypad by converting a numeric code to a pre-programmed alphanumeric message (for example, *005 can be converted to Please call ). In addition, each of the VS5104 telephone lines can be password-protected for increased security. Alpha by Phone Messages Settings Alpha by Phone Messages The VS5104 option can also support voice messaging to telephone subscribers when used with the VS5132 pre-recorded voice messages to PABX or telephone option. The VNS5100 can generate email messages to email and smart phone subscribers using the VS5133 email notification option. Each of the VNS5100 system devices can be set as an Email Notification device with a specific email address that will be used by the VNS5100 for alphanumeric messaging. The VNS5100 can also monitor the status of supporting wireless devices such as the VNS2200, using the VS5134 device supervision and monitoring option and an optional wireless receiver. This feature simplifies the maintenance of the supported wireless devices by performing a scheduled silent test and storing the test results for later report generation by the system operator. The VNS5100 is capable of analyzing data received on one of its serial ports and search the received data for pre-determined keywords using the VS5166 data stream analyzer (freetext) option. If the sought keyword is found, the VNS5100 can send the received message or a pre-programmed message to alphanumeric devices such as pagers or LED displays, or activate any other non-alphanumeric system device according to its default alert parameters. In addition, when equipped with the VS5166 option, the VNS5100 is capable of analyzing incoming email messages and responding to each email with an activation of a system device. Data Stream Analyzer Settings E-mail Forwarding & User Information

The VNS5100 is capable of responding to the activation of dry contact closure alarm points (requires optional dry contact module) with an automated alert to public address speakers, strobe lights, sirens, alphanumeric pagers, voice pagers, LED alphanumeric displays or any device supported by the VNS5100. This capability allows integration with third party PA or fire alarm systems. The VNS5100 is also capable of responding to the activation of wireless 900 MHz and UHF transmitters or push buttons with an automated alert to public address speakers, strobe lights, sirens, alphanumeric pagers, voice pagers, LED alphanumeric displays or any device supported by the VNS5100. This functionality requires the VS5165 wireless device interface option and a 900MHz or UHF wireless receiver to analyze the signal received from the wireless push button or transmitter and initiate automated alerts according to the programming in the VNS5100 database. Alarm Point Settings Pendant Edit Settings The VS5165 can also provide location information when used with supporting wireless UHF push button and infrared locators. The location ID provided by the infrared locator is converted by the VNS5100 to legible information that is added to the alphanumeric message initiated by the wireless UHF push button. Pendant Locator Settings The VS5170 additional serial port option allows the VNS5100 to be equipped with up to 250 additional RS-232 serial ports for extended serial communication capabilities and integration with multiple third party PA and fire alarm systems.
