A BIT ABOUT THE NANTUCKET ARTS COUNCIL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM The Nantucket Arts Council provides scholarships to those year-round Nantucket residents who are graduating high school seniors and who are majoring in the arts at an accredited college. The Nantucket Arts Council will support study in the fields of music, dance, literature, drama, and the visual arts. Selections for scholarship are merit centered will be made based on recommendations, interviews, and examples of a candidate s work. Scholarships are awarded at graduation. Application Guidelines TO APPLY Applications must be downloaded from the Nantucket Arts Council website at nantucketartscouncil.org/. A hard copy of the application and all supplemental materials must be received or postmarked on the day of the program s deadline see below. BASIC ELIGIBILITY: TO APPLY: Must be year-round high school senior. Must submit an on-time and complete application to be considered. Compile your full packet for mailing: o Print and signed copy of online application o Two (2) letters of recommendation. o Examples of your work see work sample instructions on following page. Mail hard copy of application and supplemental materials to council office.
Work Sample Instructions DISIPLINE WILL ACCEPT ONLINE HARD COPY Performing Arts, Film, Media, and other timebased art forms 2 samples maximum, not to exceed 4 minutes, submitted via online links or CD/DVD hard copy. In the online application, submit up to two (2) links in the fields provided. Hard copy CD or DVD work sample. Please include your name in each filename on the disk. Visual Arts Up to 15 images with an image list submitted via online links or CD/DVD hard copy. In the online application, submit two (2) links in the fields provided. Hard copy CD or DVD work sample. Each image should be captioned: title, medium, dimensions, and explanation if needed. Please include your name in each filename on the disk. Literary Arts Writing sample. May be short story, novel or script excerpts, collections of poetry, etc. Hard copy only. N/A Submit CD with writing samples along with three (3) print outs of each sample. All applicants Do not send original artwork or irreplaceable materials. NAC is not responsible for lost or damaged materials.
