Case Study "3 Nursing Homes" MobiCall Alarm Server Solution Starting Position The nursing home consist of 3 different locations with each comprises an Alcatel Enterprise PABX that are connected over a TCP/IP network, data as well as voice. The management was looking at an alarm server that is capable of receiving alarms / nurse call information from any location and notifying the responsible group in the corresponding location. In addition "dead man supervision" is required monitoring personnel working alone. Dry contacts are used for technical alarms in each location. Alarm Server Requirements The three locations are connected over the existing infrastructure, TCP/IP network. No changes to existing infrastructure are required. The alarm server is located at nursing home A and receives all alarm information via the network and notifies the responsible groups of the corresponding nursing home location. Nurse Call The nurse call used in all 3 locations is connected to the alarm server over the network. The text messages are sent to the Alcatel DECT handsets. Dead man supervision The dead man supervision can be activated by any handset of any of the 3 PABX. The person monitored can activate and deactivate the supervision manually for any given location. The alarm server calls the supervised person in predefined time interval. Technical alarms Technical alarms in all locations are dry contacts which trigger an alarm either when open or closed, depending on the configuration. All technical alarms are received and processed by the alarm server. Fax: +41 (0) 58 750 11 12
MobiCall Alarming Solution The Nursing Home A is the main Building that also includes the MobiCall Alarm Server. Nursing Homes B+C are connected via TCP/IP voice and data transmission. The MobiCall server connected to node A provides "Dead Man Supervision" for all sites as well as has Contact Controller (IPBox) and Nurse Call connected to it over TCP/IP from the remote sites as well as over a serial link locally. Nursing Home A Phone-Alarm / Dead Man IP Data & Voice PSTN GSM/ SMS+Voice Nursing Home B Nursing Home C The Web Interface provides all sites with access to the MobiCall Alarm Server for basic administrative tasks as well as launching and analyzing alarms. The nurse call is a future expansion, after the nurse call system is replaced with a new one and then connected to the MobiCall Server.
MobiCall solution Nursing Home A Nursing Home A V.24 Phone-Alarm / Dead Man Supervision Dead Man SUpervision DECT IP Data & Voice PSTN GSM/ SMS+Voice System overview The MobiCall Server is connected to the Alcatel Omni PBX Enterprise over a PRI (30 channels) connection. 5 channels are reserved for inbound calls only (Dead Man supervision activation). The other 25 channels are inbound and outbound in order to call the personnel who started supervision by MobiCall as well as sending Mini- and Voice Messages to DECT and telephones respectively. 16 contacts free of potential are connected to various technical alarms. The Contact Controller is connected via a serial link (V.24). The Web Interface provides access to the MobiCall server within the intranet. Nursing Home B + C Each of the remote nursing homes has also 16 contacts free of potential where the Contact Controller is connected to the remote MobiCall Server over TCP/IP. Dead man supervision can be started using internal extensions since the 3 nodes are linked together over TCP/IP.
Benefits Using one MobiCall Server for all 3 locations which were already linked over TCP/IP provided an ideal platform connecting different alarm sources using the existing network infrastructure. Therefore NO changes or additions required for current communication system. MobiCall was simply added to the existing systems in order to provide the required functionality by the client! Having had in mind that the nurse call will be upgraded and then integrated with MobiCall Server over TCP/IP a 30 channel solution will provide sufficient capacity for the future expansion and therefore no upgrade is needed! Implementation Technical Alarms The various technical alarms are received by the MobiCall Server via Contact Controllers located in each of the 3 nursing homes. If a contact closes or opens (depending on the individual configuration of each dry contact) an alarm is triggered notifying the corresponding group of technicians. The notification runs sequential informing one technician after an other in case the previous does not pick up the call and/or confirm the text message. If no acknowledgement is received from any person an escalation is started and the same or another group (depending on the configuration) is notified. Alarms are configured in regards to where the alarm originated and the appropriate technicians form any of the 3 locations are informed.
Dead Man Supervision Callback in defined intervals 2) 1) Start supervision 3) DECT 4) No response Alarm is launched 1. A person starts the supervision by calling MobiCall on a predefined number activating the dead man supervision in the given time interval. The time interval is defined by the number called, i.e. 2010 (10' interval), 2020 (20'), etc. The person records the exact location when starting the supervision. 2. MobiCall calls the person in the given interval 3. The person then confirms the phone call and is able to change the location by changing the recorded message if required. 4. If no response is received by MobiCall an alarm is triggered notifying a predefined group by voice message. The last recoded location of the person missing is played indicating where to search. Each person starting a supervision generates dynamic alarms which then are going through the above process for the DDI to be supervised. The supervision can be cancelled at any time from the handset that is currently supervised. Nurse Call The nurse call system is connected to MobiCall via TCP/IP. The received alarm information from any location is processed by MobiCall in location A and the corresponding group in the location where the alarm originated is notified. The alarm messages are sent to the DECT handsets as mini messages.
