Solvay Brussels School of Economics & Management The School: Solvay is the Business School of the Universitè Libre de Bruxelles (ULS). ULS is a state-owned university located in Brussells that offers a wide array of courses in hard sciences and humanities. Location: new building within the metropolitan campus of ULB in Brussels. Languages: courses are though in French (30-70%) & English Specialty areas: - Finance & Audit - Market regulation & EU Integration - Entrepreneurship & Innovation
Specialty streams Polimi students that are admitted to the Dual Degree Program with Solvay can take a special stream (customized for Polimi sudents) in European Integration & Regulation or, alternatively, any of the streams offered by Solvay under the program of Business Engineering.
Why a custom EU stream? AIMS: to breed a high-profile class of professionals who will serve in EU and Italian public administration and governing bodies by providing high-skill analytical competences of the EU economy and functioning combined with technical understanding of markets. COMPETENCES + LOCATION: Solvay has strong competences in EU regulation and public management, an ideal/appealing location at the heart of EU institutions and faculty members have excellent connections with/consult for EU institutions. This is the ideal location to conduct an internship in the EU for the master thesis. WHO SHOULD BE INTERESTED: High-profile students wishing to pursue a career in public governmental bodies of the EU, or their own European country (e.g. Antitrust Authority, Central Bank, Ministries) or in an NGOs (EU Commission, EU Court of Auditors, European Patent Office, WIPO, International Standardization Organization, EU Central Bank, Public authorities regulating Anti-Trust, Energy, Transportation, World Ban, OECD..), or alternatively at companies specialized in consulting to public administrations.
EU stream: Learning goals Provide students with: advanced analytical skills of markets and market regulation; knowledge of topics in public management and public finance; advanced knowledge of topics in auditing and accountability with a focus on public institutions; knowledge of the EU bodies, regulations and history; Knowledge of the EU financial markets. Provide students with opportunities of internship/stage and on-the-job training (though the partner) at the EU institutions, or at related agencies or businesses and consulting companies located in Brussels for reasons of proximity with the EU rulers. Provide students with exposure to the multicultural/bilingual environment of the EU capital and with exposure to a local network of professionals that work at or within close contact to the EU institutions

The admission to the Dual Degree
International dual degree: selection process Evaluation based on a two stage process: screening and colloquium Only students that pass the screening stage will access to the colloquium Students are asked to express a preference about the host university for the dual degree First stage Screening Second stage Colloquium

International dual degree: second step Colloquium, aimed to evaluate: The coherence of the expectations and the motivations of the candidate with the objective of the dual degree program The candidate s English language proficiency The candidate s attitute to to integrate in the partner university The candidate s analytic competencies (which could be assessed through interview questions or a case study)
