Mac Desktop/Laptop Setup (Some of these steps may not be necessary if other applications have already installed or updated the software.) *Apple will disable Java in Safari when a new version is released. This means you must download the latest version of Java from Oracle every time a new version comes out via the link below for Java. *idesk will only work with OSX 10.7.3 and above. *idesk is only supported on Safari for MAC due to Chrome ending Java support. *Microsoft broke Remote Desktop with update 8.0.28, please refer to step 2 for the fix. 1) Install the Microsoft Remote Desktop application from the AppStore. 2) *Microsoft has a bug in version 8.0.28 where they changed the name of the application and thus idesk cannot launch it. To correct this issue, do the following to verify the name of the application. If it is wrong, please change it: a) On the top menu click on Go->Applications b) Find Microsoft Remote Application. If you see that it is named MicrosoftRemoteDesktop, please rename it to Microsoft Remote Application. To rename it just click on it once and click wait a second and click on it again so that the name is highlighted for you to change it. After you rename it and hit the enter key, it will ask you to put in your password to confirm the changes. c) 3) Install latest Java JRE 1.8 from Oracle: http://java.com/download/index.jsp 4) You will now need to configure Java Security in Safari. a) In Safari, browse to https://idesk.jbhunt.com b) On the top toolbar, click on Safari->Preferences
c) d) Click on Security and then Manage Website Settings e) Click the Java section on the left and you should see an entry for idesk.jbhunt.com on the right. Click the drop down arrow and select Run in UnSafe Mode. Click the Trust button on the popup and click done. f) 5) Log in to idesk.jbhunt.com using your JBHunt Windows UserID and Password and wait for your available remote desktops to appear. 6) Accept any trust certificates from idesk.jbhunt.com, including signed applets. 7) Click on your remote desktop. 8) You may get a dialog complaining about a name mismatch. This is normal and can be ignored. 9) When you want to disconnect from your PC, hover your mouse to the top of the screen until the Microsoft Remote Desktop menu bar. When this happens click on the Microsoft Remote Desktop button and then click on the Quit Microsoft Remote Desktop option. You can also use the keyboard shortcut of holding down the Apple Menu key + Q. If you try to disconnect by using the disconnect option from the Start menu, it will appear that your session is hung but you can still disconnect using the menu option or the shortcut key. MAC Tips and Tricks How do I perform a Right Click with the touch pad? In order to perform a right click option, use 2 fingers and tap the touchpad. Windows Setup **Warning, this will not work on ARM based devices such as the Microsoft Surface RT** **Warning, Internet Explorer is the only supported browser due to Chrome dropping Java support. You can try Safari or Firefox if you install Java 1.8 on your PC from java.com but use at your own risk** **Windows 10 you will need to run Internet Explorer 11 (can be found by using the search bar). Microsoft EDGE is currently not supported but support is coming soon ** 1. Verify that the time and time zone is correct on your PC. If this is wrong, you won t be able to sign in. 2. Open Internet Explorer, browse to https://idesk.jbhunt.com. 3. Click "Continue..." if you get a warning about the website certificate 4. Login with your JBHunt UserID and Password. Click install if prompted to install the DesktopDirect CAB file. (If you have a popup prompting for Password save you must answer that before the add - on popup will appear) 5. If you have Windows Firewall Enabled you may also have to Allow this installation to proceed. 6. Click on your remote desktop. 7. If you click a white blank page, press the F5 key on your keyboard in order to reload the page.
Windows Tips and Tricks If the above instructions do not help, try the following steps: 1. Verify the Plugin is Installed and Enabled: a. Within the Start Screen, click the Desktop Icon. b. Click the Internet Explorer Icon that is on the Task Bar. c. Click the ALT key that is on the keyboard and click the Tools option on the menu bar and then Manage Add-Ons. d. Click under Show: and select All add-ons. e. On the right, verify you have DesktopDirectTCSX Control which should be under Array Networks, Inc as the company. Make sure that the Status is Enabled. If it isn t enabled, please Right Click it and select Enable. 2. Verify you are running Internet Explorer 11. If you are running Windows 10, you will need to search for Internet Explorer because Microsoft Edge is the default browser. Edge support is coming soon. 3. Verify that the time and time zone is set correctly. 4. Remove the DesktopDirect Plugin and reinstall it by logging back into the site: a. Click the Internet Explorer Options icon in the upper right-hand corner of your screen and select Manage Add-ons. b. You want to select All add-ons and look for the DesktopDirectTCSX Control in the list of available add-ons. c. Right click on the DesktopDirectTCSX Control add-on and select More Information. d. Left click Remove and then Close. e. Close and Reopen Internet Explorer and log back into idesk.jbhunt.com. Follow prompts to install plugin. f. If that does not work, close Internet Explore and Delete the following files: i. C:\Windows\Downloaded Program Files\DDProxy.dll ii. C:\Windows\Downloaded Program Files\DesktopDirectTCS.inf iii. C:\Windows\Downloaded Program Files\DesktopDirectTCS.OCX 5. We have seen issues on other company computers where ActiveX controls are blocked. To fix this, you will have to add the idesk site as a trusted site. You would see a screen similar to this:. a. Open Internet Explorer and navigate to the login page for idesk.jbhunt.com b. Open Internet Options (Top Right Wheel Icon ) c. Click Security Tab (2 nd top tab) d. Click Trusted Sites e. Click Sites f. Add https://idesk.jbhunt.com and click Add and then close the trusted sites dialog g. On the Security level for this zone, leave it as medium but if you continue to have issues you might need to slide it to Low. h. Click Apply and close Internet Explorer and reopen it. 6. If you still cannot get idesk to login, you may need to disable some of the advanced features on your anti-virus programs, or remove them entirely. This is only a temporary removal, but it may help determine if the problem lies within the AV settings.
