Commissioning CAUTION Ensure the cover is fitted before powering unit. The IQ151 unit contains electrostatic sensitive components. Always wear an electrostatic conductive strap attached to the metal chassis if it is necessary to dismantle the unit. a) Storage For extended storage the clock can be isolated from the battery. In service the clock supply jumper must be in the ON position. It is located centrally on the circuit board. In extended storage recharge the battery every 9 months by powering for 7 days. b) Communications The IQ151 must be set to a valid address; this can be done using the display panel if available, or using a locally connected Supervisor using configuration mode. If the optional network node is fitted, then this must have its switch set to the same address. Refer to the data sheet for the particular node type fitted. Address 1 and addresses 4 to 119 are available on the network. Addresses 0,2,3, and 120 to 127 are prohibited. The supervisor baud rate jumper selects the speed at which the IQ151 will communicate to a local supervisor, the choice is 9K6 or 1K2. The node baud rate jumper selects the speed at which the IQ151 will communicate with the node on the network, the choice is 19K2 or 1K2. The network baud rate is set on the node, refer to the appropriate data sheet. All nodes on a network must be set to the same network baud rate. Power up the IQ151 and the POWER lamp will light. If not, check the mains supply and the fuses. After a few seconds the PROCESSOR HEALTHY lamp will light, and the optional node network bypass relay will energise. If this is not the case the unit is faulty. If a node is fitted, its Tx and Rx lamps will light indicating network current flow. If Tx is off then the cable to the following controller may be faulty (open circuit). If Rx is off then the cable from the previous controller may be faulty (open or short circuit). Check the leads and connections. To check the IQ151 alone wire T+ and T- to R+ and R- and confirm the Tx and Rx lamps light. No lamps lit, and correct power applied indicates a faulty unit. To isolate a network wiring fault remove the power from all other controllers on the network. If the Tx and Rx lamps do not light the cabling will have to be checked for open and short circuits with a multimeter. Do not under any circumstances use a Megger or similar high voltage cable tester if controllers are still connected to the network cables. When this IQ151 shows network lamps lit, re-power the other controllers one at a time, until the faulty controller is reached. At each controller connect the transmit cable screen to the earthing bar below the terminals. The receive cable screen is not connected at all at this end. c) Inputs The input sensor type and scaling must be established before power is applied. All inputs should use screened cable to reduce nuisance readings. The cable screen is connected to the earthing bar below the terminals. The input scaling is set with the jumpers behind each input terminal group. Set to the desired position for T, I, or V. If the jumpers are omitted the open circuit input will result in random values being read by the IQ151 sensor module. Warning. The 24v instrument supply will destroy the precision 249 ohm scaling resistor if it is connected directly into an input set for 20mA (I). Power off the IQ151 or disconnect the cable at the IQ151 before wiring or unwiring a 20mA sensor. Sensor type Jumper Sensor type configuration Notes position scaling T B ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thermistor T Linearise See thermistor data 1 (pre July 1989 units require "Link D") 4-20mA I Linear 20mA -20mA 2 0-10v V Linear 5v -5v 3 Notes:- 1. Thermistor inputs should be set to "linearise" scaling. Trend product "Link D" is an option, refer to 91-0905 Link Header data sheet. 2. The T and B values entered are the same as recommended for other IQ controllers. 3. The T and B values correspond to inputs of +5 volts and -5 volts. This differs from other IQ controllers. d) Outputs The analogue output may use screened cable to reduce nuisance pick-up, although this is not mandatory. The cable screen is connected to the earthing bar below the terminals. The analogue output scaling is set with the jumper behind the terminal group. Set to the desired position for V or I. If the jumper is omitted the scaling is 20mA. e) Instrument supply The 24v DC instrument supply is available for supplying input sensors, Trend accessory relay modules etc. The user must ascertain the loading from the appropriate data sheet. 250mA current maximum is available from each card over the supply and temperature range. Protection is by 500mA (T) fuse on each card. Trend Controls System Ltd IQ151 data sheet 91-0120 Issue 1.0 28/9/89 Page 6of 8
