A TOTEM POLE, A PORTA-POTTY, AND SOME DIRT. Mosier needs a HUB! What s a Hub? 12
WHAT IS A HUB? Community operated rest stops for hikers, bicyclists, recreationalists, and community members. Hubs can act as a local welcome station. Hubs attract different user groups by including different amenities such as: Information kiosk maps & community calendar Water fountain Restrooms Electrical outlet for charging phones, etc. Bicycle parking Benches / picnic areas Lockers / storage Bicycle repair station Loaner locks 13
HUB AMENITIES ART SHELTER/INFO. BIKE REPAIR 14
WHY DO WE NEED A HUB? To encourage Gorge recreationists to stay in the local communities and contribute to the local economy. Bridge the gap between the State Trail and our main streets and downtown services. Support and promote bicycle tourism along the State Trail. Creates a brand identity for each community. Provides visitors with a seamless & welcoming experience. 15
