Chapter 1 Overview 1 The installation of the Connector for ODBC consists of the following steps: Configure the ODBC licensing Install Infor Enterprise Server 8 porting set 8.4a or later Install Infor Integration 6.2 Configure the ODBC connection. Infor Integration contains the Connector for ODBC.
Chapter 2 Pre-requisites 2 Required software You must have the following software: Infor Enterprise Server 8 porting set 8.4a or later, and the related Installation Wizard (minimal 13.4.3). Infor Integration 6.2. You can download the porting set from site http://onepoint.infor.com, solution 148218. On this site, select Infor Baan Solutions from the Knowledge Center menu. To log on, you require an account for Infor Global Support Online. The technical notes of the porting set identify the platforms supported, please validate your claim. The Installation Wizard is available through the same solution. Pre-requisites The porting set at the ERP LN server must be of the same version as the porting set used to install the ODBC client. You must upgrade the porting set of the Infor ERP LN server.
Chapter 3 Configure Licensing for ODBC Product IDs 3 To get a license for the ODBC driver, take the following steps: 1 In the SLM configuration, register product-id 7046, Enterprise Server DB Library as a Server license. For each ERP LN system you want to connect to, you need a license. 2 Request an activation key using the standard procedure. Upload the license.xml file to the validation section of http://onepoint.infor.com, and apply the activation key you received. Upon completion of this procedure the licenses are available. You must register the involved systems to these product-id s. For the Enterprise Server DB Library license, you must register the slmid s of the hosts where ERP LN is installed. When using SLM 2.5 or earlier, register bclmid s. To retrieve the slmid of a host, run the slmid command on that system. The slmid command is available in the <SLM Installdir>/bin folder.
Chapter 4 Install the porting set on Windows 4 This chapter consists of the following topics: Installation preparation. Installation. Post Installation steps. During installation, the DB-Connector and ODBC java layer is installed. The DB-Connector is the ERP LN specific communication layer. The ODBC layer is the java layer providing an ODBC-compliant interface. Installation preparation Remark: Only one environment for a ODBC Client can be installed, due to the BSE and BSE_REM variables set in the Windows Environment. To install a second ODBC client, these variables are overwritten. It is not supported to have an ODBC client installed on the same Windows system as an ERP LN application server (AS or MAS). Preparation consists of unpacking the Porting set and Installation Wizard installation components in the appropriate directories. Create a temporary directory for the installation. Unpack the Installation Wizard (zip-file) in a folder, such as c:\temp\iw. Unpack the porting set (zip-file) in a subfolder, such as c:\temp\ps. The Installation Wizard will refer to this subfolder with the unpacked porting set as the Installable Unit Directory. Install the Visual Studio 2005 runtime libraries, such as c:\temp\iw\vcredist_x86.exe.
4-2 Install the porting set on Windows Installation To install the porting set, complete the following steps: 1 Start the Infor Installation Wizard, such as c:\temp\iw\setup\setup.exe. The Welcome dialog box appears. 2 Welcome dialog box Click Next to continue. 3 Environment dialog box Enter a name for the ODBC-Client environment; such as odbc. Click Next to continue. If you do not start from a Staging Area, you will continue with the Installable Unit Directory dialog box. 4 Installable Unit Directory dialog box Enter the directory where the installable unit for the Infor Enterprise Server Porting Set can be found, such as c:\temp\ps. Click Next to continue. 5 Host Name dialog box The Host Name and Login Name are automatically selected. Click Next to continue. 6 Destination Directory dialog box Enter a destination directory. The porting set will be installed in the Destination Directory, such as C:\program files\infor\odbcclient. Click Next to continue. Note The installation directory will later be set as the BSE environment variable, such as BSE= C:\program files\infor\odbcclient. 7 Setup Type dialog box Select setup type DB-Connection. Click Next to continue.
Install the porting set on Windows 4-3. 8 Master Application Server dialog box Enter the following information about the Master Application Server: Host Name: Hostname of the ERP LN backend system. Login Name: the login password on the ERP LN backend system related to the Login name. Directory: the BSE directory name of the ERP LN installation (installation directory of the ERP LN backend system). ERPLN user: the ERP LN user name. Click Next to continue. 9 Ready to Install dialog box Confirm the Ready to Install parameters and click Install. 10 After the installation has been successfully completed, click Finish. If you use an Infor Integration Configuration Directory, check whether the classpath contains the folder with the owconfig.properties file. This file specifies the URL address of the Configuration Directory used to store the logging settings.
ODBC Client settings During installation, the following user and system variables are set automatically: BSE=<ODBC client installation directory> BSE_REM=<hostname of ERP LN server> The following values are appended automatically to the system variables: CLASSPATH= ;%BSE%\java\jbdb.jar;%BSE%\java\ow.jar;%BSE%\java \ow3p.jar PATH= ;%BSE%\shlib The BSE variable specifies the installation directory of the ODBC Client, such as C:\program files\infor\odbc_client. The BSE_REM variable specifies the name of the remote machine that hosts the ERP LN environment (Master Application Server). Post installation steps ERP LN server Make sure the ERP LN installation file $BSE/lib/defaults/db_resource.jbdb has the following contents: rds_full:100
Chapter 5 Install Infor Integration 5 To install the client software of Infor Integration 6.2, run the installer of Infor Integration. This software includes the Connector for ODBC, which is a runtime component to create an ODBC connection with the database of an ERP back end. Points of attention during the installation are: Select a Complete setup. Specify the Configuration Directory if you have one already available for Infor Integration. You can use this directory later to configure the logging of the ODBC integration. Note You can leave the Configuration Directory field empty if you do not have a directory available. If you do not configure a Configuration Directory, some error messages will occur, and you will not be able to adjust the logging settings for the Infor Integration part of the ODBC client configuration.
Chapter 6 Configure an ODBC DSN 6 To configure a Data Source Name (DSN) for a particular ERP LN back end, complete the following steps: 1 Add a User DSN or a System DSN using the ODBC Data Source Administrator dialog box of your Windows system. As driver for the new DSN, select the 'Infor Integration ODBC driver'. For more information on how to create a DSN, refer to the Windows online Help. 2 In the Connector for ODBC Data Source Setup dialog box, specify a Data Source Name (DSN). 3 For the BusComponent field, specify the reserved name 'localprocess'. For more information click Help. 4 In the Additional Connect Properties field, you can define: COMPNR=<ERP LN company number> This is useful if you want to predefine the ERP LN company from which this ODBC connection will retrieve data. 5 Click Test Connection to check whether the data source is responding.
Chapter 7 Test the configuration 7 Use the Connector for ODBC Test Tool to check the configuration and execute an SQL query through the ODBC driver. For usage instructions, open a command window and type the following command: odbctest Logging information If something fails, check the following places to get information: Windows Eventviewer on the ODBC Client system: ODBC porting set issues Infor Integration logging, default in: C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\.owlog. The specification of an alternate logfile and logging level requires definition of a Configuration Directory for Infor Integration. Logging of the ERP LN server. SLM Server logging for specific information on failed licensing: For Windows: Event Viewer. For Unix: <installdir>/log
