Welcome Dr. Andy Weems as the new Collegiate Ministry Pastor We would like to welcome Andy Weems to the Columbia Metro Baptist Association team. Please read his article and share it with others. We are very excited about partnering with the BCM and providing services to our churches. Thanks for all you do for the association of churches called the Columbia Metro. Since getting settled in South Carolina, I ve been continuously discovering reasons to love this new state. After serving in Ohio for 26 as a North American Mission Board career missionary, I m especially enjoying the warmer weather! I ve recently moved to Columbia to become the Baptist Collegiate Ministry pastor for the University of South Carolina and the surrounding schools. I have been welcomed so cordially by everyone since my arrival the students, the university and the churches have been incredible and I feel like I am home among wonderful family. There are a few things I would like to share with you that are coming in the days ahead. We are working to acquire a block party trailer that the BCM would like to share and make available to all the churches and church plants in the association. This will be a tool you can use for block parties, VBS and outreach events like Fall Harvest Parties, picnics or special events at your churches. It will be a self-contained trailer with a cotton candy machine, snow cone machine, popcorn machine, portable sound system, generator and inflatable bounce house for children. More details will follow, but you can begin booking this trailer for the upcoming summer immediately. The BCM is also collecting information on students who are willing to serve families and churches in the association. We are looking for students who have interest and experience in working with youth, music, play an instrument, like to rake leaves, mow grass, clean gutters, provide child care, prepare meals, work with disabled as well as other areas to serve. Once we collect the information, we can match the student to churches that have needs. They can provide services to churches or families and in return earn a little spending money. If you have a need in your church or in the church family for a student willing to serve in one of these areas, please give me a call (803)799-3854 and we can work to match your needs with students. If your church has the need for pulpit supply, I would love to come and fill in on a Sunday. I can come share about collegiate ministry, serving as a North American Mission Board missionary in Ohio, share about some of my mission trips around the world or bring a message from God s word. It would be a privilege to come and share with your church, youth or children s group.

In the fall, we are working to have a student revival team prepared and ready to come share in churches around the state. This team will be trained to lead worship, witness through dramatic sketches and interpretive movement, as well as share personal testimonies and preach the Word. They will be able to lead youth retreats, youth rallies, Sunday morning and evening worship services in church, help with Disciple Now weekends, mission nights, Wednesday evening service, and special events or retreats. We anticipate being able to start booking dates for this team around the first of October. I am greatly excited to be in South Carolina and love the opportunity it provides to partner with local churches so that we may continue building His Kingdom together. As the collegiate pastor, my job is to reach students as an arm of the local church. I am your representative and work directly for you in any way possible. I look forward to meeting you and working along side of you very soon! Thank you, Dr. Andy Weems Collegiate Ministry Pastor 819 Main Street Columbia, SC 29201 andylweems@gmail.com (803)799-3854 office (937)361-5555 cell What is the Baptist Collegiate Ministry? Baptist Collegiate Ministry (BCM) Groups There are currently BCM groups on 31 college campuses across South Carolina. These groups are partnerships between local churches, local associations, and the South Carolina Baptist Convention to reach college students for Christ. BCM campus groups minister to the campus by conducting evangelistic outreach projects, Bible studies, discipleship, and missions opportunities to students. Churches of the Columbia Metro Baptist Association What is the greatest need for the church in the Midlands of SC? To love each other!! ONE John 17 What did Jesus pray for His followers (us)? I do not ask for these only, but also for those who will believe in me through their word, that they may all be ONE, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me. The glory that you have given me I have given to them, that they may be ONE even as we are ONE, I in them and you in me, that they may become perfectly ONE, so that the world may know that you sent me and loved them even as you loved me. What did Jesus not pray for His followers (us): Church growth, church planting, revival or awakening. June 2013 Five Sundays, Five Messages, One Church, One Fellowship Would you please consider preaching on these topics during June 2013: 1. Loved People Love 2. Found People Find People 3.
