TO HLP PRVNT SRIOUS OR FATAL INJURIS FROM NTRAPMNT OR FALLS Follow the information on the warnings appearing on the upper bunk end structure and on the carton. Do not remove warning label from bed. Always use the recommended size mattress or mattress support, or both, to help prevent the likelihood of entrapment or falls. Surface of mattress must be at least 5 in. (12.7 cm) below the upper edge of guardrails. Do not allow children under years of age to use the upper bunk. Periodically check and ensure that the guardrail, ladder and other components are in their proper position, free from damage and that all connectors are tight. Do not allow horseplay on or under the bed and prohibit jumping on the bed. Always use the ladder for entering and leaving the upper bunk. Do not use substitute parts. Contact the manufacturer or dealer for replacement parts. Use of a night light may provide added safety precaution for a child using the upper bunk. Always use guardrails on both long sides of the upper bunk. If the bunk bed will be placed next to the wall, the guardrail that runs the full length of the bed should be placed against the wall to prevent entrapment between the bed and wall. Unpack the units and confirm that you have all hardware and required parts. 2. Locate one Lower Cap Rail (C) on a level and protected surface with the holes facing up. Insert two Wood Dowels () into the large holes of one Lower Cross Assembly (D) and attach to the Lower Cap Rail (C) using four 48 mm Bolts (4). Securely tighten the bolts with the enclosed L-shaped Allen wrench. As shown above. 3. Repeat last step to combine the other Lower Cap Rail (C) and the other Lower Headboard Assembly together. Make sure that the drilled holes for Connector Pins will be symmetric. As shown above. Insert six Wood Dowels () into the large holes of the Lower Cross Assembly (D) at both ends. Align and attach one Lower Post (A) and one Lower Post (B) to one Lower Cross Assembly (D) with four 100 mm Tapping Bolts (3) as shown. Be sure the pilot holes on the cross assembly and the cutout on the post face the same direction. 5. Repeat the same procedure with the other Lower Cross Assembly (D). Do not fully tighten the bolts until all rails and guardrails are attached. 9. Insert 2 Barrel Nuts (5) into each end of the Back Mattress Side Rail (J) and Lower Ladder Side Rail (K). Be sure that the cross slot on the Barrel Nut faces out and that the long groove points towards the entry of the Bolt. 10. Bolt the Back Mattress Side Rail (J) and Lower Ladder Side Rail (K) between the Lower Posts (A and B) as shown above, using the 110 mm Bolts (1) through the drilled holes on the Posts and screw into the Barrel Nuts (5) in the Side Rails (J and K). Make sure the wood stoppers attached to the Mattress Side Rail for slats are up and face inward. Tighten the bolts with the enclosed Allen wrench. Lay out the Lower Mattress Support Slats (O) between the wood stoppers on the Mattress Side Rail (J) and Lower Ladder Side Rail (K). As shown. Insert and screw the 30 mm Screws (7) into the countersunk holes in each end of the slats. Tighten the screws using a Phillips screwdriver. Set the preattached Floor Lever underneath the Slat Supports (W) to the correct height. DISASSMBLING TH BUNK BD NOT: The Bunk Bed can be separated into a Twin Bed and a Full Size Bed. In this case, attach four Floor Protectors (8) onto the bottom of the Upper Posts (, F and G) Guardrails are not necessary. 30. To convert the bunk bed back into a Twin bed and a Full size bed, first unscrew the bolts to remove the Ladder and all Guardrails. 31. Have an assistant help to remove the Upper Bunk from the Lower Bunk. 32. Attach four Floor Protectors (8) to the bottom of the Upper Posts (, F and G), as shown in the illustration. Care and Maintenance Use a soft, clean cloth that will not scratch the surface when dusting. Use of furniture polish is not necessary.
