We are very pleased with Projectplace. This is a comprehensive project, but the tool ensures that we keep control. When we use Projectplace it is easy to work efficiently Hans Jacob Beck is responsible for the HES&Q* part of Talisman s project organization for the Yme development project. Easy to learn Easy to use Hans Jacob Beck had good experience of Projectplace from the past, and Talisman selected Projectplace as their project tool after a careful review of security and operations in collaboration with the IT department. It was important to involve them, even though Projectplace neither shall be installed on our servers nor will it require service or any form of maintenance. A challenge with most IT tools is to get everyone to use them consistently. A good dialogue with the IT department, in combination with Projectplace being very easy to use, resulted in the implementation running very smoothly, Beck states. Because I already knew the tool, I have given an introduction to those who have had a need for it. Hans Jacob Beck HSEQ8 Manager Talisman Energy Unique project in Norwegian oil history Talisman Energy Norway (Talisman) re-opens the Yme field in The Egersund basin, outside Stavanger. The field was shut down in 2001 by Statoil. This is the first time an oil field is re-opened on the Norwegian continental shelf, and the development therefore represents something unique in the Norwegian oil history. Safety is a very important aspect in the offshore business and there are very strict requirements from the Norwegian authorities in this matter. Provides overview and control For me, as the head of the HES&Q work, it is particularly the follow-up opportunities and transparency of Projectplace which is helpful, he adds. The work-plan can be imported from MS Project or created directly in Projectplace so that the entire work-plan is located in the Projectplace Tasks tool. It is easy to assign tasks and follow-up on those tasks that are assigned to project members. I also like the automatic progress reporting to the resources responsible for tasks. I can continually follow the upcoming work and intervene early with corrective measures if necessary. Since we run many projects, we have a great portfolio. It makes my job easier when synoptic status and portfolio reports can be communicated, so I can get an overview quickly. Strict requirements Document requirements are strict in such a project. Many updates and changes are made, and there are a lot of people who perform them. In such a case it is vital that version control measures are effective and that the document history provides transparency.
