The New Frontier of Global Education: For over 32 years, St. George s University has been on the forefront of global education. We have established the University as a leader in educational practices, providing students with an innovative curriculum inspired by the world in which they live. The Centre for Advancing International Management is our next step. Developed in concert with St. George s University and the Windward Islands Research and Education Foundation (WINDREF), the Centre s creation was born from the requests of our students, our graduates, and the thousands of professionals in the health field who are part of our global network looking for a more expansive education. As of Fall 2009, the Centre will offer an MBA in Multi-Sector Health Management, a graduate-level business degree that reaches across disciplines and sectors, seeking to enrich the total health of communities economic and otherwise. The MBA is designed for participants from a range of backgrounds, including: doctors, veterinarians, NGO managers, public health professionals, government administrators, community organizers, emergency managers, humanitarian officials from the UN, dentists, psychologists, development specialists, and entrepreneurs who all think in integrated ways about the wellness of communities. 2 2009_AIM_MECHANICAL_v1.indd 3-4 5/13/09 3:10:48 PM

ighlights The Value of the Program: Program Highlights Increase your understanding of the complexities of the role of business in community wellness. Take your practice further, position yourself in leadership roles, move into the business world, or explore your entrepreneurial passions. The US-style MBA creates new dimensions of value by integrating knowledge across sectors. It addresses health management issues, as well as others, and equips participants to manage every aspect of small- to medium-sized organizations, in the private or public sectors, especially in international settings. The MBA works as a community of practice. Participants from major international cities are grouped into cohorts of at least 20 and advance through the program together to generate actual organizational results through class activities. A distinguished group of faculty personalizes coursework, while projects provide real-time interactive education. Assessment of learning is clinically driven. Real-world operations ground each assessment tool used by faculty to provide feedback to participants. The curriculum is based on standards set by the Association of MBAs [AMBA] and the Association for Advancement of Collegiate Schools of Business [AACSB]. Peter F. Drucker (1909 2005) United Nations Principles for Responsible Management Education [PRME] In creating this program, the University has also adopted the United Nations Principles for Responsible Management Education. Principle 1 Purpose: We will develop the capabilities of students to be future generators of sustainable value for business and society at large and to work for an inclusive and sustainable global economy. Principle 2 Values: We will incorporate into our academic activities and curricula the values of global social responsibility as portrayed in international initiatives such as the United Nations Global Compact. Principle 3 Method: We will create educational frameworks, materials, processes, and environments that enable effective learning experiences for responsible leadership. A Drucker-centric curriculum This MBA program is soundly based on principles established by the legendary Peter F. Drucker. As the host of the Drucker Society of the Caribbean, SGU has worked to preserve key features of Drucker s legacy through the featured curriculum. These include an emphasis on managing social impacts and social responsibilities, performance, contribution, productive work, high-achieving workers, and the social sector, all of which emerge throughout the coursework taken by students. Principle 4 Research: We will engage in conceptual and empirical research that advances our understanding about the role, dynamics, and impact of corporations in the creation of sustainable social, environmental, and economic value. Principle 5 Partnership: We will interact with managers of business corporations to extend our knowledge of their challenges in meeting social and environmental responsibilities and to explore jointly effective approaches to meeting these challenges. Principle 6 Dialogue: We will facilitate and support dialogue and debate among educators, business, government, consumers, media, civil society organizations, and other interested groups and stakeholders on critical issues related to global social responsibility and sustainability.

Built to fit your schedule and into your life: Program Structure Designed for working professionals, the program s course load is optimized to fit into already overloaded schedules and personal lives. Taught primarily online and supplemented by three residency weeks in Grenada, the entire program spans 18 months. Courses range from Management and Leadership Effectiveness to International Operations, and each lasts for one month. There are no courses held in December. The program begins with an online MBA Boot Camp. The Boot Camp, an overview of basic business tools and skills, provides a foundation for the core courses taught later in the program. This is especially helpful for participants who do not have an undergraduate business degree. Prior to the first session, instructors will set up teams, trade messages with the class, clarify assignments, and discuss initial readings. Any physical materials needed for the class will arrive by the first day of the month. Weekly sessions are held using an online platform on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10pm GMT (2pm PT, 5pm ET) and run two to three hours. Generally, two hours for each hour of class are required to complete out-of-class reading, team discussions, case reviews or other homework. During each online session, the professor appears on screen alongside headshots of various class members. This format creates a classroom-like setting and facilitates group discussion, participation, and material absorption. While exploring the case study presented in class, teams break into private electronic discussion groups and then reconvene with their findings. The first of three residency weeks in Grenada brings the various international teams together for the first time. Several scheduled team-building and introductory events allow participants to experience Grenada while meeting their classmates. Participants are encouraged to bring a spouse or significant other. The second residency block occurs halfway through the program, and the third residency block is completed in the final week and features the project management course and project lab.

Requirements for Admission Acceptance into the MBA program is based on the following requirements: a bachelor s degree (BA or BS) from a regionally accredited university or college and a competitive GPA unless exempted by the Committee on Admission. Participants must also submit: two letters of recommendation, preferably from teachers, professors, or supervisors in the workplace, and an admission essay of 300-500 words. Participants will receive the essay topic upon application request. If English is not the native language of the applicant, the following exams and scores are required: the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a score of 600 (paper) or 250 (computer-based); alternatively, a score of seven (7) on the IELTS (International English Language Testing Exam) can be submitted.
