General Information 1. Location & Venue The competition will take place at the Malta Shooting Sport Federation Ranges in the village of Bidnija. Bidnija is a tiny village, situated on a rural hamlet in the central northern part of Malta. It is located between two main valleys which are 'Wied Qannotta' and 'Wied Tal-Pwales' that extends into other small valleys surrounding the area. Bidnija is still largely a farmer's village since it is entirely surrounded by fields which mainly belong to the inhabitants themselves. The Shooting Ranges are equipped with Nasta machines and include, a Skeet layout, two (2) Double Trap and two (2) Trap layouts. The firing direction of the Ranges is north. The Ranges have a snack bar and restaurant that can offer meals at reasonable prices. 2. Clay Targets Nasta clay targets of orange colour will be used during the competition, and orange flash targets will be used in all Finals. 3. 4. Events, Categories & Classifications Skeet: One Event for all Categories; Men, Men Junior (-21), Women, Women Junior (-21), Veterans (60+) Double Trap: One Event for all Categories; Men, Men Junior (-21), Women, Women Junior (-21), Veterans (60+) Trap: One Event for all Categories; Men, Men Junior (-21), Women, Women Junior (-21), Veterans (60+) Classification in all Events: In order to list participating shooters in their respective classification, the Federations are to submit their Official Classification list with the participants entry forms. Classification Class E Class 1 Class 2 Class 3 Average Score + 92% 80% to 91.99% 70% to 79.99% - 69.99% 5. Registration & Payment Of The Entry Fees All participants must submit a completed Individual Entry Form which must be forwarded to the Organising Committee, by e-mail not later than 01 st April 2016. The payment of the entry fees will be carried out at the Shooting Ranges in Bidnija. All payments have to be made in Euro currency. No credit cards or personal cheques will be accepted. All participating shooters, upon arrival, are advised to report to the Secretariat at the range, to ensure that their entry forms have been received by the Organizing Committee and that their names are included in the final list of participants. Late Entries will be accepted until the deadline (21 days before the Official Arrival Day), and only if the maximum number of participants entries have not been reached. 6. 7. Firearms Permits & Customs Formalities Police and Customs firearms formalities will take place both upon arrival in Malta and on departure. All participants are requested to fill in the Firearms & Ammunition Form and e-mail it together with a scanned copy of their passport to the Organising Committee. In addition, EU citizens are to e-mail a scanned copy of their European Firearms Pass (EFP). Furthermore, Non EU citizens are to e-mail a copy of their Police shooting licence. Foreign participants travelling with their shotguns will be charged a police license / escort fee of 42.00. 8. Shotgun Ammunition The Maltese Customs Authorities will allow all participating shooters to import with them all the necessary ammunition that will be used for the competition. Imported cartridges will be available for sale at the shooting range at approximately 6.00-9.00 per box of 25. 9. Storage Of Shotguns Athletes are permitted to take their shotguns to the hotel room provided they do not leave them unattended. 10. Rules & Regulations The competition will be conducted according to the ISSF rules and regulations. 11. Competition Related Procedures At The Shooting Ranges A Technical Meeting will take place on 9 th May 2016, at the MSSF Ranges Bidnija. Each Nation is urged to have a representative present to receive updated information regarding the Competition Schedule including training and Finals, draw procedures and other important issues related to The Malta International Grand Prix. The Opening Ceremony will take place on Monday 9 th May 2016, at 17:30. Award Ceremonies will take place at the shooting range after the end of each Final. Each participating Nation is required to bring three (3) National Flags (approx. size cm. 100x150) and one (1) national anthem (40-50 seconds) on standard CD or a USB flash drive. The Closing Ceremony will take place on Sunday 15 th May 2016, after the last Award Ceremony. A Reception will follow.
12. Jury & Referees Qualified Referees holding an official ISSF Shotgun Referee license will officiate at the competition. A Jury will be designated by the organising Committee, to supervise the competition. 13. Arrival In Malta Malta through its Main International Airport and Seaport, offers excellent travel connections. Many international airlines such as, Air Malta, British Airways, Etihad Airways, Turkish Airlines, Alitalia, Air France, Lufthansa, Emirates, and low cost airlines hold regular flights from and to Malta International Airport. The Virtu Ferries operates a daily express service between Valletta Harbour and Pozzallo in Sicily and back. The distance between Malta and Sicily is only fifty nautical miles and the trip takes approximately one hour and forty five minutes. 14. Entry Visas Malta is a full member of the European Union and some nations require visas to enter into Malta. We strongly advise all non European Union participants to verify in advance whether they need a visa for entry into Malta. If necessary, the Malta Shooting Sport Federation will be ready to provide all participants with the necessary supporting documentation. Detailed information regarding visas and formalities for entry into Malta can be found on the website of the Malta Ministry for Foreign Affairs, http://foreignaffairs.gov.mt/ Message to all Non European Athletes who will be participating in the San Marino World Cup; Since Malta is a Schengen area member state, a Schengen visa from Malta automatically allows you to travel to the other Schengen countries including Italy. Although San Marino is not officially included in the Schengen Area, it has an open border with Italy and therefore, a Schengen visa from Malta will be valid. Border officials in EU countries may ask for other supporting documents such as an invitation letter, proof of lodging, return or round-trip ticket. 15. Weather Information May is a reliable dry and sunny month in Malta. At this time of year, the average temperature for the Islands rises from 17.5 C at the start of the month up to 21 C in the final few days. Daily highs increase from 21 C to 25 C and daily lows also rise from 14 C up to 17 C as the month develops. 16. Participants, who are interested in booking accommodation in the official hotels, are kindly asked to complete the Hotel Reservation Form and e-mail it to the Organising Committee on mssf.oc@gmail.com After receiving your Hotel Reservation Form we will forward it to the hotel of your choice and you will be contacted via e-mail. To secure a booking, a deposit will be needed. All payments have to be made directly to the Hotel. In May the tourist industry starts picking up, therefore, we suggest that you send the Hotel Reservation Form as early as possible, since we cannot guarantee reservations and bookings will be managed on a first-come, first-served basis.
