Financing from Finnvera for enterprises in situations of change

Financing from Finnvera for enterprises in situations of change Finnvera provides financial solutions for the start-up, growth and internationalisation of enterprises and for exports. We share risks with other providers of financing. Profitable business is a precondition for our financing. We provide financing for business investments, development projects, company reorganisations, internationalisation, and for working capital needed for growth. Are you planning a company acquisition or change of ownership? Does your business face a change of generation or some other change of ownership? During company reorganisations, financing is generally needed for payment of the purchase price, for investments or for working capital. Finnvera offers loans and guarantees for such needs. A company acquisition can be carried out either as a sale of business or as a sale of shares. It s good for the future owner to contact experts and potential financiers early in the project. Financing can be arranged if the project is well planned and provision has been made for the risks involved. The owners commitment and a sufficient share of self-financing are essential for implementing the project.

Profitable business is a precondition for our financing. Are you aiming for the international market? Is your company s goal to grow, but there is no growth potential in Finland? Would there be international demand for your company s products and services? Going international opens new opportunities for business development and growth. By granting a loan or a guarantee to the parent company, Finnvera can finance the business of a Finnish SME abroad. For companies engaged in export trade, we can offer export credit guarantees both to protect them against credit losses and to improve the options available for the financing of exports. The Ministry of Employment and the Economy supports the development of Finnish SMEs business in Russia by financing project studies associated with establishment. Finnvera acts as an expert and a contact organisation in projects financed by the Ministry. Does your company need turnaround management? Sometimes entrepreneurs find themselves in situations where expenses grow faster than their turnover. Profitability weakens and growth comes to a halt. Companies may need a change of direction or adaptation measures. Together with other financial institutions, Finnvera can apply flexible

terms to financing, for instance, by postponing instalments. A prerequisite for financing is that the company takes the necessary turnaround measures to secure profitability. Open cooperation with financiers early enough is important. Do you need bridge financing for the period preceding the payment of grants? Your company may apply for a Working Capital Loan from Finnvera to cover the period between a positive grant decision made by a Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment (ELY Centre) or Tekes and the actual payment of the grant. In the case of grants from ELY Centres, bridge financing may be used if the company has received a development grant for investments or other development measures. In contrast, bridge financing cannot be used for grants awarded by ELY Centres for preparation projects. In the case of grants from Tekes, bridge financing is suited, for example, to grants awarded to young innovative growth enterprises and grants awarded for research, development and innovation projects.
