Products Gain efficiency and safety We develop and deliver a range of specialized products and technologies from online monitoring systems for optimum vessel positioning during drilling and workover operations to subsea pigging and installation aids for pipelines and flexible pipes. Riser Monitoring Systems (RMS) Innovative applications for safer and more efficient drilling and completion operations, which increase operation envelopes, reduce riser stress and wellhead loads, reduce wear and provide critical information for the drill vessel in operation. They are engineered to a very high tolerance in order to eliminate the risk of annulus pressure build up, and subsequent outer sheath rupture. Innovation Innovation for Improving Operations Research and technology development is a fundamental aspect of Kongsberg's work within SURF engineering and management. Over the decades, we have participated in various research projects on flexible pipes, umbilicals, rigid risers and cryogenic pipes, all of which have resulted in innovative new technology and methodology to overcome the challenges faced by the upstream oil & gas industry. We have been instrumental in developing independent engineering tools for structural analysis of dynamic pipes, software for online monitoring of drilling and workover risers including Vortex Induced Vibrations (VIV), and Integrity Management Systems. Our knowledge within these fields has also resulted in the development of proprietary database and integrity management solutions that can enhance performance in riser monitoring and lifecycle management applications: FlexStress: Advanced postprocessing tool based on Bflex (By MARINTEK) allowing for full fatigue analysis of flexibles based on irregular wave analysis and RFC methodology FlexStress: Proprietary post processing tool for fatigue analysis of tensile armour of flexible pipes exposed to irregular dynamic loading. RMS/RPR: Riser Management System is an online advisory tool for safe and optimum operation of drilling and workover risers. Riser Position Reference system is a back-up position reference system using the drilling riser as an instrument for position estimation. Cryodyn* (LNG): Cryodyn is a flexible, insulated pipe to be used in an off-loading system for transfer of LNG that has been developed in co-operation with Framo, Nexans and Aker.
