Things to do in the area The Kintail Outdoor Centre provides excellent bunkhouse accommodation for outdoor enthusiasts in the north-west Highlands. Owned and managed by the National Trust for Scotland, the centre is on the Trust s Kintail & Morvich estate, which includes the Five Sisters of Kintail and the Falls of Glomach. The Kintail area is renowned for the quality of its hill walking, and trails to Beinn Fhada (1,032m) and A Ghlas-bheinn (918m) start just outside the Outdoor Centre s door. The centre is also the western terminus of the long-distance Affric Kintail Way. Climb the Five Sisters of Kintail and bag 3 Munros The Kintail Outdoor Centre is within walking distance of the coast at Loch Duich and just 25 minutes drive from the Isle of Skye. It is an ideal base for hill-walking and mountaineering clubs, schools and university groups, or large groups of friends and family. The bunkhouse accommodates up to 24 guests: 20 in the main building and 4 in the annexe flat. Guided sea kayaking Guided walks Cycling Get a fresh perspective on the coastline by heading out in a sea kayak. One-day trips, multi-day courses and full expeditions are available and are suitable for families (age 10+) and those with no prior experience. All equipment is supplied. Explore the local area around Kintail, and or Plockton, or locations further afield including the Isle of Canna, Knoydart or the Western Isles. The rangers offer a programme of guided walks over the summer including the Five Sisters of Kintail, the South Glen Shiel Ridge, the Affric Kintail Way and the Falls of Glomach. Other walks are available on request. There are a number of good cycling routes in the area, as well as some tougher mountain bike trails. The old military road from Kintail to Glenelg is scenic with light traffic, although the Ratagan Pass is (in)famously tough. Golden eagles, otters, ptarmigan and red deer are all regularly seen in the area. The landscape also has a significant cultural heritage, with crofting still playing an important role in the lives of local people today.
